On my escape from the King's fortress and into my own perdition, I came across Tyson pacing inside my private space. His eyes turned from susceptibility to antagonism in moments. "Where have you been Scarlett? I was worried sick and when Maria told me you lost the child, I, I thought the worst. I thought I lost you." He hurried towards me. "But you are perfect, unscarred and untouched by the monster. Now we can go, for you have no reason to stay."

My head fell down past my shoulders, unable to remain eye contact with this humble man.

"Scarlett, what's the matter? We are free." His gentle hands reached for my face, caressing my salt-stained cheeks. As the silence grew intense, realisation flooded the once stable man. "Oh, oh no Scarlett. Again?" His tone rose with anger.

"I had no choice." I managed between sobs. "Give him a child or rot on the stands, my head detached from my body. If he couldn't have me, he would make of it nobody else could."

Tyson lowered his clenched fists to his sides and began towards the door

Tyson lowered his clenched fists to his sides and began towards the door.

"Where are you going?" I probed behind him.

As he stood stagnant in his taut upright station, he glanced to his right and alleged: "To kill him."

An icy current trickled down my neck. "No please Tyson," I ran behind him, grasping his coffee vest. "He is not afraid to find false accusations to put to death his most faithful servant."

"I must do something Lady Scarlett. He will never stop until he gets what he wants."

"And what is that? A son, there are many other maidens in the land, ones more suited." I said walking back down to my bed, crouching over my knees.

"He doesn't want the child as much as he wants you." Tyson spat, turning away from me.

"Me?" I raised my head in dispute. "Why would he want an orphaned slave? He's already had me a few times before, I'm sure his interest is fading."

He spun to face me, in three hefty steps he sealed the coldness between us. "Why would any man in the kingdom want you? You're beautiful, intelligent, above your years, sincere; you have a heart of gold –"

"And there are much more with these identical qualities." I interrupted.

"No Scarlett," he kneeled by my bedside, "there is no other like you in this whole hollow world." He placed kisses against my hand, then my neck as he gradually rose to his feet. "I won't take this man of everything he owns of yet; I'll keep my friends close, and enemies' closer."

"
