(Time skip to Levi's House)
Levi's POV
'How is this brat so fucking light?' I asked myself whilst I carried him into my house. 'I hope he doesn't make a mess when he wakes up. I don't want my house looking like his room before I cleaned it'.
I placed him down onto the bed in the spare bedroom and as I was leaving the room the fucking brat got up and hugged me from behind. Honestly, that really surprised me.
"Get back to bed, brat. You need your sleep." I say harshly, slightly regretting the tone I used when I heard him start to cry into my shirt seconds after the words left my mouth.
"Please," he said, "stay."
Some might have thought that I would simply leave him there because I tend to make people believe that I have absolutely no emotions. Although I understand that I tend to limit the emotions I show to pretty much zero, I actually still feel emotions. I just don't really know all too well how to express the feelings that I feel.
"Fine," I finally reply after a few seconds of silence, "but let me get an extra pillow and a blanket. I don't want to catch a cold, you know?"
He nods and silently returns to the cold bed. Waiting for me to come.
I quickly grab the pillow from my bed and then a blanket from the cupboard in the hallway and rush back into the bedroom that I left Eren in.
'Why did I rush?'
When I walk into the bedroom I find the kid asleep with tears rolling down his rosy cheeks. I look at him for a while wondering if I should wake him or leave him be but when he started to thrash around screaming for help I decided to wake him.
"Oi. Oi! Wake up! Eren!" I shout, shaking his shoulder.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" He screams as he sits up. This freaked me out. 'Why was he screaming?'
"MUUUUUUUUUUUUM!" He screamed, grabbing my shoulders and began sobbing loudly.
This was going to be a long night.
...
(Over to Erwin and Armin)
No one's POV
"Are you alright, Armin?" Erwin asked the shorter blonde, softly.
"I...I'm j-just gonna...really miss Eren and the others." Said short blonde replied.
"Don't worry. You'll see them soon enough," Erwin replies. "I was going to ask earlier, what was that pillow you brought out along with Eren's stuff?"
Armin was silent for a bit before he replied: "Eren got that from her mother, Carla Jaeger. It helps him sleep when he feels lonely or misses his mother. She died in front of him when he was around seven years old... Or should I say... she was murdered." He then went silent again.
That completely shocked Erwin. 'No wonder that kid was messed up,' he thought.
"We're almost there. Don't worry. Levi knows how to handle people like Eren. Since He used to be just like him until I met him. He should understand the kid's feelings. I'll text him about the pillow." Erwin says.
Not long after the short but deep conversation we arrive outside my house.
"We're here," he says.
Armin nods.
Erwin's POV
We exit the car and walk into my house. It's quite spacious, considering I live alone. Well. Lived alone. Now I will be living with Armin.
"Come this way, I'll take you to your bedroom. Try to sleep. If there is anything wrong please come get me – I'll be in my office – Okay?" I ask. I need to read over the stuff that Annie gave me and tell Levi to do the same. I also need to tell Levi about the pillow.
As I was leaving to go to my office, I got a call from Levi:
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!! MUUUUUUUUUM" A voice that sounded like the kid screamed.
"Eren, Calm down, damn it!" Levi's voice says. "Erwin does your little blonde boy know how to calm Eren down when he's like this? I've tried everything."
"Yeah. There should be a pillow that has the initials C.J. <3 E.J. written on it. That should help him calm down according to Armin." I reply, calmly.
"OK. I'll try that." He says to me and hangs up. Not even saying thank you but I think this is the most stressed I've ever heard Levi be so I just ignore it.
While my phone was in my hand I decided to text Levi telling him to read the stuff that Annie gave us. Once the text was sent I walk into my room and go to bed.
Once in bed I decide to read all of the papers I was given. One clump of papers has a lot of information about Armin and what he has learned. The other tells me about the development of male nekos.
As I am reading the papers, I notice that there are bits that are highlighted:
"Over a short course of time (normally around 1-2 weeks), male nekos develop romantic feelings towards their owners. This is completely normal. Owners must be aware that this is an unavoidable process in the development of male nekos. If left out of development it could cause nekos to break and become mentally ill."
The page makes my eyes widen. 'Is this why they are given away to owners?'
As I continue to read on, I hear the door of my room open. It's Armin – crying.
"What's wrong, Armin?" I ask, "Come here."
He walks over to me slowly and sits down next to me on the bed.
"I," he mutters, "I d-don't know." He starts to sob, quietly into my shoulder.
"It's okay," I say quietly, "Everything will be alright."
...
And with that, the long night filled with the sobs of both teenage nekos and the soft voices of their owners began.
