A/N: This book still needs editing, but my goal was to add in that Emilia is with some of Jake's family. I was too in the moment to add detail, but now you get where I was going! Enjoy, Read, Vote, Share! Thank you!♡
Emilia sat at the pub with her head back, elbow up, and beer at her lips. The people around her cheered her on as she chugged the Guinness. She slammed the glass down as they all shouted when she swallowed the last drop. The guys around her slapped her back, which made her cough and almost throw up. She hadn't even taken a break with that one.
"One hell of a lass!" Frankie exclaimed next to her to one of his buddies.
The bartender was grinning at her.
"Aye, and a well lookin' lassie too," he said with a wink.
"Surry, vagina's on a break, gentlemen," she slurred.
The men booed but laughed heartily at her comment. She giggled like a little kid and put her head down on the sticky bar top. She didn't give two shits whether it was dirty or not.
Bernard slapped her back. She had met him the first night here as the downstairs neighbor, and she enlisted him to be her drinking partner since she met him while he was drunk.
"C'mon, lassie, gotta get some water in you if you wanna live til tomorrow," he told her.
"Fuck that," she muffled and then burped up beer.
"If she throws up, your cleanin' it, Frankie," Douglas, the bartender, said.
"Oh aye, with your unruly mop!" Frankie exclaimed.
Emilia laughed hard at that and many others did. Douglas even threw his head back and laughed. Frankie was Bernards roommate and Douglas was Frankie's cousin, and they enlisted themselves to be members of her drinking squad the first night at the bar with her.
"I never realize how awesome scotts are," she muffled in a slur of words.
"Aye, well we never thought an American girl would be so coarse and enjoyable. Let's get you home, lassie. It's been a long night," Bernard said.
"But I like here! You guys are fuckin' cool," she mumbled.
Frankie and Bernard hooked each arm under hers and stood her up. She wrapped her arms around their backs and giggled her entire way out of the bar.
They walked her down the gravel road and laughed at her as she tried walking. They mostly held her up and let her skim the ground with her feet. Em squealed when they heaved her up over a rock. She giggled constantly until they got in front of her door.
"See you in two days, lassie. I doubt you'll be comin' outside tomorrow," Frankie said.
"Pah! I'll be fine!" Em exclaimed and fumbled with the door knob.
She was staying with a local widow who was not to be trifled with, but for some reason the two ladies got along like two peas in a pod. Even if Emilia came out to the pub every evening and came into the cottage shit faced in the middle of the night.
"Goodnight, lassie. Can you make it upstairs without us?" Bernard asked her.
"Nope," she said and fell into kitchen table.
They rushed in and carried her up the stairs to her bed. They handed her a bucket and patted her head.
"Sleep well, lass," Frankie murmured.
"Remember not to sit up too quickly now. Rest good, little lassie," Bernard told her.
They both left her in her room alone. They always left her alone.
