Blake hadn't seen it coming. Team RWBY had gone on a job to stop a group of highway bandits who were hijacking a number of the Schnee Dust trains, but she had never expected to see Adam here.

"Adam." Blake said, standing her ground on top of the train. Below her Ruby, Weiss, and Yang were stopping the other hijackers. "What do you want?" She called, and Adam turned to look at her, a wicked grin plastered on his pale face.

"Blake..." He slurred, and he licked his lips. Blake shuddered. Such a creep... She thought and scowled. "You know what I want." He smiled again and Blake's eyes widened in horror. She slide her foot forwards and pulled out her scythes, when Adam launched forwards, knocking her weapons right out of her hands.

"Blake, dear. It's been so long. I haven't had a good laugh in quite a while. Please, entertain me some." He advanced on her, a giant sword in one hand. He grinned manically and pulled it back, about to swing down when...

"How about you go look in a mirror if you want to laugh so much." Yang snapped, smashing the sword down through the roof of the train. Blake's eyes were wide. "Now you have to deal with me." Yang's eyes narrowed and Adam growled. He huffed angrily and grasped the handle of his sword tightly. Bits of metal flew in all directions as Adam pulled the sword up and out of the roof. Yang smashed her fists together, her eyes glowing red.

"Blake, just stay back and let me handle this, okay? I'll make sure to kick this guy's butt for you." Yang grinned back at her, and Blake nodded silently. "Actually, you should go down and join the others. I'll take care of things back here, alright?" Blake stood up and nodded.

"Alright. If you're sure you can take him. You don't know him like I do--" Blake began, but Yang held up a hand. Blake went silent.

"I don't care who the hell this creep is, but if he's hurt you then I'm gonna make him pay." Yang hissed, advancing on Adam. Adam sighed and gave Blake a look.

"This is your precious girlfriend? Really, sweetheart?" He asked, and both Blake and Yang went pink.

"Excuse me, but the only one allowed to call Blake a sweetheart, is ME." Yang said, her voice full of determination and rage. Blake went even pinker. "Blake, NOW!" Yang charged at Adam with full speed and power, drawing her fist back ready to punch. Blake jumped down the back of the cart and climbed down the ladder. Sliding through the door, she found herself right beneath Yang and Adam's battle. There was a defining crash and the unmistakable sounds of Yang's fist clashing with Adam's sword.

Blake covered her kitty ears with both hands, fear flooding every cell of her body. Is Yang okay? Is Yang okay? The same question echoed over and over in her mind as the train rattled on the tracks. She slid down to her knees and felt around in the darkness for something, anything, she could use in a fight. Another crash from above rattled the train and the door. Blake bounced on the hard metal and cast a frightful glance upwards. The hole Adam had smashed through the roof allowed a fragment of light to try and push it's way through, down, into the car.

"Yang!" Blake called, still panicked. "Yang are you okay?" There was silence for a moment. Perhaps Yang just hadn't heard her?

"I'm good!" Yang called quickly, and Blake gave a sigh of relief. But, had it been too quickly?

"Yang I--" She stopped dead. Something was dripping from the hole in the roof. In the darkness Blake couldn't quite tell if it was water, or... Something else. She sniffed at the liquid covering her fingers, and gave a shout of panic. It smelled like Yang.

Correction: It smelled like Yang's blood.

"YANG!!!" Blake screamed, but she was cut off by someone covering her mouth with their hand. And it wasn't Yang. Blake's muffled screams must've risen through the crack in the ceiling, because in a matter of seconds Yang was smashing her way through the roof. Always coming to Blake's rescue. Blake bit Adam's hand and stomped down on his foot with her heel as hard as she could. He released her with a few unpleasant curse words and Yang pulled Blake through the roof.

"You okay?" Yang asked, holding Blake bridal-style in her arms as the wind whistled past them. Blake nodded, too embarrassed for words. "Oh, sorry." Yang hurriedly set Blake down, and grinned at her. Blake turned pink.

"Yeah, I'm fi-- LOOK OUT!!!" Blake pushed Yang over as Adam swung down hard with his sword. He sliced Blake's shoulder, and she let out a cry of pain. Yang's eyes blazed red and Blake watched as she slowly pushed herself to her feet. The metal beneath her feet was slowly melting from the extreme heat. Adam was so screwed now. Yang yelled angrily, bursting into flames as she ran at Adam. For a single moment Adam looked terrified. It was the best moment of Blake's life. Of course it was immediately followed by the worst.

It happened so fast Blake wondered if it had even happened at all. One second Adam's sword was in his hand, the next it was going through Yang's stomach. Except Yang wasn't dead. She seemed to get even angrier that Adam was trying to kill her and she placed her flaming hands on the blade, melting it into red-hot goo until there was nothing left of it.

"YOU JERK!!!" Yang shouted, rushing forwards and punching Adam right in the face. Adam was thrown all the way over two whole train cars and bashed into the third one with a loud crash. Yang laughed triumphantly, and then collapsed backwards.

"YANG!" Blake ran to catch her, and gently lowered her down. "Yang..." She sobbed quietly.

"It's okay..." Yang gave a rough breath. "Sweetheart." And she grinned up at Blake. Blake laughed and wiped her tears. "Told you I would make him pay." Yang whispered, her eyelids fluttering. Blake bit her lip. Where was medical help when you needed it???

"You didn't have to pay for me though." Blake whispered, stroking Yang's golden hair. Yang laughed, much to Blake's surprise.

"You're so cute when you think things are your fault. And to be fair I'm not much of the dying type. Here." Yang groaned as she undid the fastening on her weapons, Ember Cecilia. Slowly, she handed them to Blake who took them with trembling fingers. "You said you know him right? Seemed to me like you really wanna pound him. I don't know what he did in the past to torment you, but I think it's high time he pay for what he's done." Yang grinned as Blake stood up, locking Ember Cecilia to her wrists. Blake laughed.

"I might have been able to come to terms with what he's done in the past, but he is sure gonna have hell to pay for the present. Yang, promise to be here when I get back?" Blake asked, her back to Yang. Yang laughed and Blake took that for a yes. "Alright then, this won't take long!" Blake shouted over her shoulder, running and leaping across the train cars to get to Adam.

"THIS IS THE END OF THE LINE, ADAM!!!!!" Blake shouted, bringing Ember Cecilia down as hard as she could. Adam crashed through the roof of another train car, bashing and tumbling into the crates below. Crates full of dust.

"CRAPPPPPPP!" Blake shouted, running as fast as she could away from the exploding train car and back to where Yang was. "YANG!" Blake skidded to a stop beside Yang's limp body. "Yang you promised!" Blake cried, lifting her hand and squeezing it. To her surprise it squeezed back.

"I told you I'd wait. And Blake, I'll wait for you to meet me up in Heaven too. But you'd better be a cranky old kitty cat when I see you again, got it?" Yang coughed, and Blake threw herself over Yang's body as the cars behind them went flying. Bits of metal and glass and wood scraped Blake's arms and back as the train rattled on it's track. It bounced roughly, and Blake wrapped her arms around Yang.

"See you later... Sweetheart." Yang gave a contented sigh. Blake gave a hollow laugh, but by the time the train came to a halt on the tracks, Yang's violet eyes were empty.

And so was Blake's soul.
