Chapter 5

I couldn't bare seeing my mother...Amy's face, so I decided to stay the night at April's. Matt warned me about the council but, I have a meeting with them first thing tomorrow morning.
April's house was a normal sized house with two normal parents, lucky for her that she has a normal life. Note how I'm saying normal a lot because my life will never be normal.

"So I know we have school tomorrow and you have to go to some meeting, but that doesn't mean we can't have a sleepover!" April said excitedly. I don't normally hang out with April I'm usually with Melody or Clarissa, so this night should be interesting.

I nodded at her to show I was actually listening, which I wasn't really. She ran into her closet and started shuffling through her stuff, she then pulled out super cute penguin pj's, and a few pillows for us to sit on. April's parents were chill with the whole sleepover thing, surprisingly since we have school tomorrow.

We watched a few horror movies, did our nails, and then finally I decided I was super tired. She got me a blow up mattress and a few blankets, then she hopped into her queen sized bed.

"Scarlett, this is weird. Why are you here sleeping over at my house on a Thursday?" She asked me.

"Because your my friend, and things aren't going so well between my mom and I" I told her. I wish I could tell her the truth but I couldn't. "Plus me and my mom made a bet, and she won so I wasn't allowed to sleep at the house" I lied to April. It didn't feel right lying, but what was I supposed to do? I called out her name but I got no response. I pulled up the Mickey Mouse cover sheets and fell asleep.

I woke up in a strange place, with millions of people surrounding me screaming and calling my name. All of them looked sort of the same, and they all had a symbol on their right wrists. Some were the same symbols and some were different. It seemed as if they were trying to tell me something and trying to grab me and bring me towards them. But I was in a cage, there was something grasping onto me that wouldn't let me leave. I started shouting for help but none of the people were helping, the people staring at me started to melt and cripple. I couldn't escape it was to late!

"Scarlett Scarlett! Your having a bad dream!" Screamed April. I woke up startled. I looked around the room I was on the floor, my whole body was sweaty and my legs felt cold. I stared at April who looked like she just saw a ghost.

"What time is it?" I asked. She looked at her clock that was resting on her black night table.
"8:17" she said.

Shoot! I had to be at the institute at 8:30! I quickly got out of bed and changed into the pink
t-shirt and sweat pants I brought. I said my thanks to April, and Mrs and Mr. Perkson. I walked towards my house and went into my backyard through the side gates, I went up to the shed and turned the knob then I magically appeared at the institute.

"Glad you could make it" said the blonde haired guy. "We never fully met I'm Antonius, over here is Damian, and this is Atarah" Antonius said.

Atarah started to speak "you will be starting witch school soon and you will be learning everything you need to know about being a powerful witch"

"Once you have completed the courses we will take you in from there, we are hoping that you will cooperate with our agreements and changes" said Damian.

"We want to help you Scarlett, so I hope you follow us and help us improve some things" said Antonius.

"Am I really a White Witch?" They nodded. "Then why have I heard that White Witches are extinct?" I asked the council.

"Where did you hear that from?" Asked Damian.

"Doesn't matter, but why am I hearing that?" I asked.

"Scarlett you must understand that the world isn't prepared for what is to come, you are the future. People think you are extinct because you were supposed to die in the vampire attack" said Atarah.

"How can I understand something if the world isn't even prepared?" I asked.
"I'm sorry Scarlett but we are out of time, go back now we will see you soon" said Antonius.

I started walking away, then my necklace that Matt gave me started to glow. "Wait!" Said Antonius. "Who gave you that?" He asked.

I stopped and turned around thinking, I couldn't tell them it was from Matt they would find out he's a witch and that he's been the one telling me things. "I bought it from the mall" I said calmly.

"But it started glowing, and it looks like its made from magic" said Atarah.

"I'm pretty sure I bought it, it glows because there's a battery inside. You guys need to get out more" I said. I left them speechless and hurried out the door.


When I returned outside of the shed, Amy was there. I walked past her heading for the gate. "Wait Scarlett" she said.

"I'm late for school, just leave me alone" I told her.

"I'm sorry, I need to talk to you" Amy said.

"Well it's too late for that, I'm old enough to handle things by myself. Your only going to make things worse" I said sternly to her. I walked out though the gate and went off to school.

When I walked through the door I saw Melody standing in the hallway receiving a lot of "hope you feel better" and that sort of things. I was walking up to her when Matt grabbed my arm and pulled me aside.

"What is Melody doing here?" He asked.

"She's feeling better now" I told him.

"Yea I know that. But doesn't that mean she needed human blood to turn?" He asked.

"Yea...I thought you knew that"

"So how did she get the blood?" He asked.

"I fed her when I went over, I thought you realized that when my arm was bleeding" I said.

He looked at me strangely then he stopped and started thinking about that day.
"I never thought you gave her your blood! I thought she just attacked you or something" he said.

"Matt. Seriously? Are you that stupid?" I asked. It's so obvious that I gave her my blood! She was dying she needed human blood, then my arm was cut open bleeding!

"Are you that stupid? She needs human blood. Not witch blood!" He yelled at me.

"Well how was I supposed to know?!" I asked.

"I don't know I just assumed you would because everyone nows that!" He said.

"K, well so what she's fine" I said.

"No she's not fine, she has witch blood in her system" he said.

"So what does that mean?" I asked him. I looked back at Melody who was now talking with Nate! I looked at Matt who was talking, then back at Melody. Nate looked over at me, wondering why she's still alive. I looked back at Matt who was just staring at me. "Oh sorry, could you repeat that?" I asked. He gave a sigh and rolled his eyes.

"For one thing it's good that your not a very powerful witch because then you could really do some damage, right now Melody isn't really a vampire" he said. I looked at him funny.

"Which means she like half vampire half witch, she needed human blood to become a vampire" he said.

"So is that a good thing that she's not a full vampire?" I asked.

"Well since your not that powerful it won't effect her, she won't be able to do any magic" he said calming down.

"Is this a good time to mention I'm a White Witch?"
