Between the shadows

Chapter 2

The house was gorgeous to look at from afar; but it was stunning up close. The pack house as Jakson had explained to me is the main building with the top floor being the Alpha's and only the Alpha's.

The Sundowner territory was more so a town of its own, although they didn't have as the Beta told me, shopping centers, to buy things; they had to leave the pack lands apparently. Mundane life as I finally concluded is completely confusing and mind boggling, some things they do aren't even necessary, but I'll have to get used to it. Although the buildings, and houses that surrounded the main house were all unique in their own wonderful way, and I loved that. Now I just hope that the people are just as nice as Jakson is, I do not need any fights and most importantly, I didn't want to worry about anyone being close to figuring out my true identity. Not too long after Jakson managed to lead me throughout the whole house and show me where I would be staying and all of the other important places and things that I had to know, although I feel quite sorry for the poor boy now because I believe I wore him out pretty badly. "Are you hungry?" Jakson suddenly blurted out, "Hungry? Me? Never, I only would like to try one of those fruit blends, I believe they are called smoothies? Just I wouldn't like any apple or plum, if that's okay?" "sure, but haven't you ever had a shake before? Or anything else to eat or drink?" I just look at him and truthfully shake my head, as far as I learned from Michael on Earth we do not have to eat or drink anything, we only need to recharge and be in the sun for long periods of time, so life for me would be quite easy here.

With a sudden burst of life, Jakson almost jogged to the kitchen and quickly pulled out all of these horrifying machines to make a smoothie or as he called it a shake and got to work whilst I comfortably sat down in one of the stools by the bench. "So we have time, tell me more about yourself, and why do you speak so funny?" Jakson asked me while stuffing various fruits and liquids into the contraption. "Ok, I don't really know where to start, but English isn't my first language hence my funny way of speaking, my brother even told me that I speak funny, he said "it's not in fashion to speak this way anymore.", although I do speak all of the languages on Earth, however you could say I am a person of many talents. Back home I used to do many things but truthfully the best things were the things I did with my brother, but then again I love all of the memories that I have from home." "Oh, okay, that makes sense, I guess, but what else is there to know about you, I mean we did find you, and you practically came out of nowhere."

What to tell him, what to tell him, is the only panicking thought to rush through my mind before I concluded to only give simple information that could hint at what I am but at the end of the day, I will be staying here so wouldn't they become my new family? I hope that if I am to stay here on Earth and with them especially, that we become like a family, I would love that, but I am confused as to what to tell him about myself, maybe start with the small things? and so I did.

"I love nature, I guess that's the most obvious thing we have in common, the love of nature, however music, and art are some of my other favorite things but besides that I am mostly just work, work, work and family, don't get me wrong though, I adore my work and my family. What about yourself Jakson?" He looked up at me with his forest green eyes not expecting me to give him details about myself, "I know you thought I wasn't going to open up, but I will slowly bit by bit, after all I will be here a while, so finish making that shake Beta if you want to learn more." This encouraged Jakson to work faster whilst letting out a throaty chuckle, this was the ultimate beginning to a great friendship in my eyes.
