Chapter one~

It dug into my arm, whipping it side to side. It only got deeper into my arm. "EVA!" I heard Ruby scream. She stared in horror. Madeline had frozen in shock. Cody had been screaming for five minutes straight as I was slowly making my way down its mouth.

I shook my arm. "LET GO!" I desperately screamed. My head bobbed up and down. Suddenly I got pulled under without warning. I had a few good seconds of air left.

I bent over and bit the tip of it's nose. Nothing. I jammed my left thumb in its eye. Again, nothing. I heard the bone chilling sound of my bone crunching against its Razor-Sharp teeth. I looked up seeing my red blood mixed with bubbles.

"How pretty." I thought. I was going deeper and deeper, faster and faster. I felt the pressure against my lungs.

That was just half of it.

It started off as a great day. I was on my bed, reading some novel for school. Ring, Ring. My phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered

"Hey Eva!" Ruby said.

"Hi, what's up?"

"Let's go boating, and surfing! I just got a new board!"

"Ok, who's boat are we taking?"

"Madeline's, she got her's cleaned yesterday."

"Ok, let's go surfing at wolf cove."

"Sounds good, meet me at the dock in an hour."

She hung up immediately. I took a deep breath. "Too peppy that one." I laughed to myself.

I opened my drawer and pulled out my favorite bathing suit. It was a two piece bikini, that was navy blue and had little coral anchors on it, assuming Tamara was coming. She was a snobby stuck up girl, who never gave you a break when it came to your choice of clothes. But she was also one of my closest friends.

I quickly changed. As soon as I finished, I tied my board to the roof of my car. And I was off to the dock.

On my way there I stopped at a family owned bakery called bonjour or something. "Good morning Mr. Of the cross." I teased saying his French last name in English. "It's Monsieur Delacroix, little girl." He said. "I'm 18!" I yelled. We kind of had a love hate relationship, we both annoyed each other, but he made a mean crossiant and I was his regular customer. But no matter how amazing his food taste... he's an annoying French guy.

"Anyways, I'm gonna have a cream croissant." I said with a toothy smile. "Ok, here." He handed me a small paper bag in exchange for a dollar sixty five. Just as I opened the glass door, he shouted something at ,me. "You and your 'kind' are an absolute menace to society!" He laughed as I left the shop.

"I hate your kind too!" I yelled/laughed.

I made it to the dock. "It's about time you showed up!" Tamara yelled at me as I pulled into my usual parking space at the dock. I winced. "You're are by far the greatest welcoming committee I've gotten." I laughed. She rolled her eyes and smiled.

Madeline's boat was polished and looked like it had been waxed. She stared at her reflection in the perfect mint blue boat. "Hi." Ruby said, walking out of the boats cabin, sounding calmer then she did earlier on the phone. "Hello." I said as I tried to untie my surfboard off the roof of my white car.

"I could use some help." I told Ruby. "Oh, right sorry." We untied my board just in time for departure. "All aboard!" Madeline screamed as she checked the motors, and the gasoline gauge. I slipped my surf board under my arm and made my way to the boat. I bent down and felt the water with my index finger. An eerie feeling crossed my body. The hairs on my neck stood up. I suddenly got goosebumps. Something wasn't right.

I quickly jerked my body away from the surface of the somewhat murky water. Cody tapped my shoulder. "Hey." I said as my pale face went back to its original color. "Hi, did you bring your surf board?" He asked. I glanced at my board which rested under my arm, his eyes followed mine. "I knew that, I was just messing with you." He said laughing. I giggled.

I heard my stomach grumble. I tied my board against a railing. I reached over into my bag and pulled out my cream croissant, as the boat slowly cruised into the open ocean. The flakey pastry crumbs found its way into the water.

I watched as little fish surfaced and ate the crumbs. "Feeding frenzy!" Cody said from behind me. I smirked. He took a few steps back and went talk to Ruby. A dark shadow passed under the fish. The fish scattered as if they were scared of the unknown. I cringed. "That was fake." I told myself.

"My imagination." I said. I took a big step back.

My left arm started going numb. 'What's going on?' I thought, 'Coincidence. I'm going with that.'

A set of hands rested on my shoulders. I turned around. "Cody!" I yelped. He scared me. "Here." He handed me a Vanilla Frappucino. The ones from Starbucks, and they sell from grocery stores. "How'd you know I wanted this?" I smiled. He pulled out a cooler and snatched a minute maid mini lemonade. "I just knew."

I twisted the cap. It made the safety pop. I took a long sip, and the caffeine made me wake up by a little bit. Cody's green eyes lit up when he took a sip of the sweet taste of lemonade. Strands of my  strawberry blonde hair blew in the wind

"You look great." He said. "Thanks you too." I replied. Confused by how quickly the topic changed. I ran my fingers through my soft lengthy hair that ended just above my waist.

We got to wolf cove, where our usual hidden area below some rocks was. A while ago we found this little desserted beach with scattered palm trees and a small 'cave' that might have gone about eleven feet back. Between the mouth of the cave and the cracks, small and large, along the walls and ceiling, we were able to see without a problem. In the very back of the cave laid two lockers (locked of course), one contained all of our towels, a few sunscreen, sunglasses, one extra bathing suit and a change of clothes for each of us, a box of granola bars and a box of water bottles. The other locker had a sleeping bag for each of us, which were extremely hard to fold, and two large tents (which included tarps) because we sometimes camped out here. We built a miniature dock just big enough to tie a motor boat and a jet ski to it. The dock was also narrow so only one person at a time would do. The cave had all our towels and sunscreen rolled up and hidden in the back of the cave.

This place was practically ours.

The waves in front of the beach were amazing for surfing. I grabbed my surf board and darted towards the narrow dock. As soon as I got to the cave I jammed my board in to the ground and found the towels and sunscreen.

I laid out my pink towel. I skipped the sunscreen and jumped into the water. I paddled towards the large rock shooting out of the water, shaped like the head of a wolf. Thats how wolf cove got its name.
