Everyone pulls up at Fez's. They all storm past me and upstairs apart from Aaron. I sigh and show him round the place.
"This place is awesome, you come up with this?" He asks. I shake my head
"Naa, it was a family effort, although it doesn't feel like family anymore" I tell him quietly. He doesn't say anything as we sit down on the sofas.
"Guys! Come on, let's talk about this?" I shout over them. All eyes are on me
"There's nothing to talk about Elena" Tyrone pipes up.
"Yes there fucking is, don't you understand why I said I had to think about it?" I ask them
"They wouldn't let us leave that lot alive" Dom finishes. Finally, someone who understands
"And if we don't say yes, we won't live til tomorrow" Katie backs me up. I nod. The others are pondering the idea. The silence is making me go insane
"I say we do it" Fez pipes up and everyone slowly nods along with him. Yes! I finally got through. I hear a small cough from the door and we look towards it
"Sup bitches" Hailie. We laugh all bare one. "I heard the best racer in town was back, guess the rumours were true" she adds. I smile at her. "Oh and I picked up this guy on the way" we look past her and realization hits me as I run at him
"Jake!" I scream and fling my arms round him. He laughs as he hugs me tightly back. "I thought you weren't getting transferred?" I ask. He shrugs and pulls me into him again.
"That doesn't sound good" I hear Kaylee mutter. I spin round to see Katie and Tyler looking awkward as fuck. I look to Jayden for help and he puts on his tough guy act.
"He's a cop" he states. I mentally face palm myself. He could've been a little more gentle with it. Everyone erupts into cries of dismay.
"Hey!! He's fine, seriously he's fine" Hailie shouts over everyone as she throws herself on her original bed. We look at her to explain. "I had a 20 blunt rolled on the dash and I was going 140 all the way here, he would've pulled me if he was hot" she explains. We all nod, trying to understand how she talks.
I pull my phone out my pocket and text the Christian look-a-like;
We're in
~Redlight RacersI send it and then focus back in on the conversation
"Since when did you start hitting blunts?" Tyrone bravely asks
"After I split with you" she deadpans. I know that hit him hard as he doesn't say anything the rest of the night. Katie and Tyler make their way over to me and sit down
"Fill us in" Ty demands. I chuckle a little and explain to them who Hailie was and what happened between her and Tyrone. After I'm done explaining I notice Tyrone sat by himself. I hate it when he's not his sarcastic self. I excuse myself from the conversation and head over to him.
"Dude, what you doing?" I ask pathetically as I flop down on the bed next to him. He shakes his head
"I troubled her so much, she turned to drugs to make herself feel better, what does that say about me?" He asks. I sigh
"It says that you two weren't meant for each other, it was lust not love, so maybe stop trying to convince yourself it was" I explain to him. He nods slowly, processing what I said.
"Cheers Els" he tells me and smiles. He heads over to Fez and Dom on the beanbags and starts up with the sarky comments again. I smile then head downstairs to get myself a cider. As I bound the stairs, I notice Jayden working on his wrecked car. I hover half way up the stairs and watch him work.
He eventually noticed someone was watching him and he smiled when he saw it was me. I carried on down the stairs and headed over to him. I did little tune ups while he messed with the engine. Neither of us said a word as we worked on his car, we were enveloped in a peaceful silence. The only sound was metal clinking together and the faded laughs from upstairs. I liked it.
-
4 hours and a lot of hard labour later, Jaydens car was almost back to new. The laughs completely faded during the night and there was also silence upstairs too.
"Thanks for helping me Els" he says as he hugs me. I hug him back as my response. We head upstairs and quietly creep to our beds.
"Night" I tell him
"Night" he repeats and I hear him shuffle round. I sigh and settle myself down. My mind wandered to when Jayden first told me he loved me. Niether of us has said it since, although it was obvious we did.. Love each other. I held the cruifix in my hand and stroked it, like it would tell me what to do. I tossed the thought aside and fell into a peaceful sleep.
I woke up to soft laughing. I rolled over and saw Aaron and Hailie sat on the sofas. I smile to myself as I get up and head downstairs to the bathroom. My phone buzzes;
Good, meet us at Brickside Café 1300
- KyleI nod to myself then head back up to the others. It's only 9, I don't want to wake them just yet. I glance to Aaron and Hailie and I don't wanna interupt them either. I sigh then I see Jake stir awake. I smile and bounce over to to sit on his bed.
"Hey" I beam. He squints his eyes at me and half smiles.
"Elena" he says as he rubs his eyes. I smile back at him.
"Did you hear about the job we've been roped into?" I ask him. He shakes his head. "Well, this trio approached us at the races last night and asked us to do a drop with them. The crew kicked off at me for agreeing to consider it-"
"-But if you hadn't they probably would've killed you" he finishes for me. I nod at him as I carry on
"Eventually I talked them round and then you showed up" I explain and he nods slowly.
"What time you gotta meet them?" He asks as he sits up. I can feel his body heat radiating off him.
"1 today" I tell him as I sit back from him. He nods
"I'll come with you, just incase" he says. I nod and slowly everyone starts to stir. I leave Jake's bed and head to my own. My bedside table is covered in stuff so I shove some of it in the drawers and I notice a familiar piece of paper. I open it up and it's Jayden messy handwriting scrawled over the page. The note he gave with the cruxifix. I smile as I read it over.
Elena
I got you this, to remind you of how much I love you, where ever you are, I'll always be with you
Jayden
I fold it back up and place it back in the drawer. I look over to him and he's still sleeping. I had to say I missed this, the whole 'not having a care in the world until race day'. It's slowly beginning to feel like a family again.
"Alright everyone, listen up! 'Kyle' sent me a text for us to meet him at Brickside Café at 1 so get yourself ready" I tell everyone seeing as they're all up.
"Hey Els, I suggest we go in two cars, people'll get suspicious if 12 cars turn up at once" Fez suggests. I nod in agreement and carry on to the sofas.
"Where's your head at, Elena" Dom's deep gravely voice sounds from behind me. I try to bite back a smile as he sits next to me. He always knows when there's something going on in my mind. "You trust this cop?" He presses
"Yeah, I do" I reply simply. He nods back
"Fine, if you do, we do" he replies. I smile at him "Does he know about the job?" He also asks. I nod
"We should probably go, or we're gonna be late" I tell him. He nods and we all head downstairs. This is going to be interesting.
