They were back in fourth hour, after lunch. Math. Araya was sitting next to Talon, at their table alone. "Kitten, why'd you run off like that?" Talon whispered, after the teacher was done explaining the assignment. Araya didn't answer, just stared down at the wrist that she cut. It was still bleeding slightly.

He wrapped his arm around her waist, making her feel warm. She looked at him, silent.

Mute.

"Oh, kitten, no..please talk to me.." He whispered. She was tempted, but she wouldn't break this time. She was determined this time, and she wouldn't be distracted by some guy she didn't even know. She wouldn't allow herself to.

She shook her head. She got her notebook out, writing something down sloppily.

"I'm not talking anymore."

"Can..I still come over?" He asked, hoping she would write down yes. "Of course." He sighed in relief. "Good..I don't know what I would've done if you said no." "Murdered this whole class?" Talon laughed. "Maybe." He chuckled. His grip on her tightened. She looked at him. Into his brown eyes. They glistened, even with the lights off.

Faliure. Unwanted. Worthless.

She wanted to talk, but she couldn't. Her thoughts stopped her every time she tried. Every time she thought about it.

"Kitten..did I do something wrong?" He asked. His tone of voice told her that he wanted real answers. "No." "Then why did you run from me?"

She took a moment to plan out her words carefully. She started writing down furiously.

"Okay so I've been through a lot and my heart has finally broken to where I'm trying to shield it from being completely shattered so I don't want to fall in love with another person that I don't personally know because I'm scared and I don't want to die but I keep doing things to push me further towards death and further away from others and not talking helps because I get criticized and bullied for my terrible voice so I'm going by the law majority rules."

After she was done writing, she showed the long paragraph to him. He looked at the paper, then at her in disbelief. At first, it looked like disappointment. Then it changed to disbelief, then anger. "Who the hell would hurt such an innocent girl like you? You're so small and fragile, and beautiful.. I can't imagine anyone doing such awful things to you." Talon took her hand gently. "Araya, I may have only known you for a few days, but it feels like I've known you all my life. And, forgive me for saying this, especially in your state..but I can't hold it back anymore."
