Note from the author: I have changed Andy's name to Dakota (this is the final repetition of this message)

-Chapter 4- Love is in the Air

Something smoky scented the air in the brisk, cold air of night, and Ashley sat up. Dakota was purring with some form of glee at something that Ashley couldn’t see, “What are you laughing at, silly?” Ashley asked.

Dakota looked at him and Ashley’s face contorted with fear, “Dakota, don’t use that lightly!” he growled, staring at his friend’s purple eye.

“It’s so fun to play around with, though! Looking through this eye is so… fun!” Dakota clapped gaily.

“Dakota, put it away!” Ashley grumbled.

Dakota’s smile turned itself upside down, “Ashley… am I not allowed to have fun?”

Ashley sighed, “Not around me,” he joked.

Dakota gently punched Ashley’s biceps, if you could call it gentle, “Alright, fine, I’ll put it away,” Dakoa chuckled.

“See? That wasn’t hard, now was it?” Ashley asked as Dakota replaced the glass film over his eye and brought his mob of scene hair over it.

“Come on, Ashley, let’s go!” Dakota smiled, “We’ve got a party to crash!”

“Party? Crash?” Ashley wondered, “Sounds like my kind of joint!”

Dakota took Ashley’s hand and pulled him into the forest and they ran across the moist, musty dirt like lovers in a meadow of flowers. Ashley didn’t know why, but the warmth of Dakota’s naturally cool hands surprised him, “Why are your hands warm, Dakota?” Ashley asked.

“’Cause I was just touching fire….” Dakota replied.

“Dakota!” Ashley pulled his hand back and grit his teeth, “Why?”

“Ashley… I know you think that I’m still allergic to fire… but I’m not.”

Ashley bowed his head in rage, “You make me want to….” He began, his hands lighting up.

“Ashley! I’m sorry!” Dakota yelled.

“You make me want to kill myself sometimes, Dakota,” grumbled Ashley.

Dakota looked like he wanted to cry, “I didn’t-“

“No, you know what, I don’t want to deal with you if you’re trying to trigger your allergic reaction!” Ashley shouted.

Ashley turned and walked off into the woods, touching trees with his flames whenever he could, “ASHLEY!” Dakota screamed like a child, “I’M SORRY!”

Ashley continued forward, ignoring the constant cries from Dakota until he was knocked upside the head by something hard. He fell down on his hands and turned, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hit anybody!” Cried a voice.

It was a feminine voice and the young woman ran over to Ashley, “I’m so sorry! Are you alright?”

Ashley turned to look at her, standing up and saying, “What did you throw?”

“Just a large rock,” she replied and then gasped, “Wait, but you’re not passed out! Does that mean you’re a fairy?”

Ashley’s lip twitched, “A FAIRY! What kind of person do you think you are? Calling me a fairy, you slut!”

“I’m so sorry, sir, please forgive me! You must just really have a hard head,” she whispered.

That blew Ashley’s fuse, “You think you’re so smart, don’t you, little missy? Well, I’ll show you that that rudeness won’t take you ANYWHERE in the world!” he drew his hand back in a fist and threw it forward, but something caught him and prevented him from hitting the girl.
