Chapter 1

Paths Diverged

I climbed up the ladder, before running over to where the others stood waiting.

" About time." Riku scolded and I rolled my eyes, the smile not leaving my face as I followed them down the beach, to where a raft sat unfinished." Try not to slack off this time please, Sora. Perma."

" I don't know what your talking about. I never slack off." I lied before I ran off to find supplies, but when I couldn't find anything besides a bunch of cloth, I sat down on the tree that was growing on a smaller island which was connected to the actual island by a bridge, watching the waves. I looked over when Riku and Sora ran passed with Kairi right behind them. Getting up, I ran over and jumped down following them toward the raft as Kairi called out." Come on, Perma."

A few hours later, we all sat watching the sunset. I lie next to Kairi, my back against the tree, and my head on my arms, while Sora sat on her other side and Riku stood leaning against the tree on his other side.

While they were talking about what it was like on other worlds, and what we would do once we got to another world, I was watching the sky as it faded from pink to red to purple

While they were talking about what it was like on other worlds, and what we would do once we got to another world, I was watching the sky as it faded from pink to red to purple." What about you, Perma?"

" Huh" I asked confused before I fell off the tree sideways and they all laughed before Sora repeated his question." What are you gonna do once we get out of here?"

I stood up and crossed my arms after brushing the dirt off of my dark blue miniskirt, as I watched the sun sink further from view." I don't know." I responded. We stayed there for a few more minutes, before we climbed in our boats and went home.

The next day, I walked over to Kairi who stood watching the boys race around the island. Kairi was my younger-by-a-minute-twin sister, but we were fraternal twins so we looked almost nothing alike. While Kairi had short red hair, I had long blonde hair, which I held back with a red headband, my hair started out blonde at my bangs and carried on slowly down toward my waist where it turned blue at the ends. I hadn't dyed it though, I had been born with it. Kaiir and I shared the same deep blue color for our eyes.

Our clothing styles were very different. While she preferred bright colors, I leaned toward darker colors. Kairi wore a short purple skirt with a white tank top and shoes , while I wore a black tank top, a dark blue knee-length skirt and a pair of black shoes, around our necks was a set of matching necklaces. Neither of us could remember how we got them, but somehow we just knew they were important.

Riku ended up winning his race with Sora, but for trying I gave Sora a hug that he looked like he needed before going off to hide in the secret cave at the base of the large tree, something I always did whenever Riku tried to make me help, even though he knew how lazy I could get. I had just sat down to finish a drawing I had been working on when Sora appeared. I frowned when he started to stare off into space and talk to himself but when I walked over and shook his shoulder, he seemed to snap out of it." You okay?" I asked and he looked over at the corner of the cave with a nod.

" Let's go before Riku and Kairi catch us slacking again" I suggested and he laughed before we left the cave but as I was following him out, I noticed a guy in a brown cloak watching us; a second later he was gone. I shook my head before I followed after Sora.

Later that night, I sat looking after the raft, I knew that Kairi would worry but that was Kairi for you. I looked up as thunder rolled and I let out a sigh.

Please dont rain.

I heard footsteps and I looked to see Riku." Perma, what are you doing here, you should be home."

" I was just making sure that the raft was-" I was cut off as a bunch of creatures started to appear.

" Perma, you need go, now." Riku told me before he ran off to fight the strange creatures. I did as he said and ran off, but I wasn't even to the boats before one of those things tackled me to the ground. I let out a scream and a bright light surrounded me before the creatures were suddenly gone, I looked around in confusion, before I noticed Kairi going into the secret cave." Kairi" I called out, before running after her. I knew that Riku had told me to leave, but I had to make sure that my sister was okay.

I slid to a stop when I caught up with her inside the cave and she turned to look at me with a sad look on her face as I walked over to her. " Kiari, what's wrong?" I asked.

Suddenly I felt something stir inside of me, something strange and a keyhole appeared in the strange wooden door before us

Suddenly I felt something stir inside of me, something strange and a keyhole appeared in the strange wooden door before us. I reached out to touch the door but as my hand made contact, a black energy shot from the keyhole and everything went black.
