Qiang entered the classroom and immediately looked for Zhang Wei. And as usual, Zhang Wei sat in the back of the classroom with his head buried in his book.
Qiang smiled and reached his hand into his backpack, and pulled out a manga. He placed it gently on Zhang Wei's desk and sat in his seat.
"What is this?" Zhang Wei looked through it," You read this?"
Qiang laughed and shook his head," No, No, it's for you." Zhang Wei stared at Qiang for a few seconds then placed the book on Qiang's desk."No thank you. I don't accept gifts from strangers."
Strangers?! How could Zhang Wei possibly think the two of them were strangers? Maybe they weren't the best of friends, but the two of them spoke each and every single day of school. Actually, Qiang was hurt that Zhang Wei thought so little of him.
"Strangers? We've had coffee together." Zhang Wei snickered and opened his work book," Zhang Wei, let me see your cellphone. I heard that lately there's been hackers going around, let me check to see if you've been hacked." Being gullible, Zhang Wei forked over his cellphone. He watched Qiang look through his phone with worry. He had just received that phone from Liling and Yong.
But truthfully, Qiang was lying. There was no hacker going around. Qiang was secretly storing his own cellphone number as the number one contact in Zhang Wei's phone and made sure to send himself a text so he could then save Wei's phone number. Qiang wasn't at all ashamed."You're all good," Qiang said and handed Zhang Wei back his phone. Zhang Wei let out a sigh of relief and handed the class president his workbook," sorry don't have it today," Qiang said, saving the class president the work of even going to collect his. Qiang never did his school work. He wasn't the star student and he'd never be. He enjoyed school to get out of that stuffy house! The air always felt so thick and suffocating. He always excused it as being his father's terrible attitude.
Soon after the homework was collected, the class was released for a lunch. Zhang Wei had never been more excited to see lunch period before! That morning he woke up later than usual, and had no other choice but to skip breakfast, and now he was paying the price. His stomach growled and ached all day long from hunger that when the teacher released them, he even jumped out of his seat!"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Qiang asked.
"To lunch!" Zhang Wei responded.
Qiang nodded and followed Zhang Wei into the cafeteria. He was willing to stay in the classroom with Wei, and was willing to follow him where ever he was going. And of course , the hunger blinded Zhang Wei, making him unaware that Qiang was following.
Qiang stood close behind Zhang Wei. It had become amusing to Qiang. Zhang Wei really didn't notice Qiang had been following him from the classroom! And truthfully, it even concerned Qiang. How could someone be so unaware of their surroundings? That was a sure way to be a victim of mugging."4.25" the lunch lady said. Qiang pulled out the money before Zhang Wei even reached for his own, and handed it to the woman.
Zhang Wei watched Qiang who innocently then paid for his meal. He couldn't understand why Qiang would pay for a stranger's meal?! Qiang was beginning to become confusing.
"Hey, Qiang! Why did you pay for my meal?" Qiang looked up, his face bright from laughter. He kept his face down, and carried his food tray over to an empty table and sat down. And of course, the curious Zhang Wei followed.
"Sit," Qiang ordered.
"Sit? I don't want to."
"I paid for your meal so you would eat lunch with me. Now, sit," Zhang Wei sucked his teeth and threw the money on the table. Now, he didn't owe Qiang anything.
"Then the manga. "
"I'll return it when we are in the classroom."
"I checked your phone for hackers."
