I stood there, in front of the Beacon Hills Police Station. Drenched from head to toe from the heavy rain, clutched in my hands the last thing I had of my family. A blue gem encrusted in a silver moon, dangling from a silver chain. I watched as my father drove off in his black Chevy Impala my brothers undoubtedly in the back seat. I waited till the back lights faded down the road, then turned and stumbled, shivering towards the front door.

I don't know who was there when I walked in, they only faces I saw were the faces of a young sheriff and a boy about the same age as me.
"What's your name?" The oldest one asked as he draped a blanket onto my shoulders. I just stared blankly at him, memories of the fire still flashing through my mind. "I'm Sheriff Stilinski." He pointed to himself, he noticed me looking at the boy. "That's my son." The boy looked up from what he was doing and walked over.
"Hi, You can call me Stiles." He holds out his hand and I stare at it. Then I slowly raise mine, all wet and cold and place it in his.
"I'm... Mel." I mumble looking at his face. He smiles and his eyes brighten. Happy to have a new friend. "Good. Do you have a last name?" The Sheriff asked as he held my shoulder. "No." I said what my father had told me to say the whole way here. "Ok then.. Parent's names?" He asked, "They just left me here." I looked straight at him, sadness filled his eyes. "Alright.." Sheriff stood up and walked over to a couple other officers.

"So, Mel?" An officer came up to me, "How about we find you somewhere to live." He showed me to a chair and sat me down. All I did was nod and stare at the far wall. At some point Stiles had taken the seat next to me and was talking happily.
"So your name's Mel? That's a nice name. How did you get here? Where's your mum?" He asks looking at me curiously with his brown eyes. The mention of the word 'mum' makes memories spill through my mind.
"The Man, Fire, mother, yellow eyes, my... fault." I mumble unknowingly, tears slipping down my cheeks. Stiles expression changes from curiosity to sadness and out of no where he leaned over wrapped his arms around me. I sat there confused not knowing what to say, when his dad walks back with a file in his hand.
"Stiles what are you doing? Leave her alone" He then turns his attention to me. "Ok, so Mel. We've found you a nice family up south a bit...", "No dad. She can live with us. Not some other family." Stiles pipes in grabbing my arm. "Stiles come on let her go." The sheriff grabs his son and pulls him away, but seeing the sadness worsen in his eyes makes me reach out and grab his hand. The sheriff stops and looks at our hands and smiles.
"Looks like you've got a friend." and places Stiles back on his chair. Stiles smiles widely as his father walks back over to the other officers. "Thanks." Stiles says looking at me, I was happy to see the brightness back in his eyes. I smile and then the Sheriff returns again. "Ok, well since Mel here doesn't seem to want to let you go I guess she can stay at ours till we figure something else out.". "Yay!" Stiles yells hugging me again. And this time my smile widens and I forgot just for an instance what had happen that brought me here.
"So Mel? I'm gonna ask you once more, do you have a last name?" The young sheriff asked, and I knew my father had told me not to tell any one but he was gone, he left me alone in middle of the night while it was pouring down rain and it looked like these two were going to be my new family so I decided. "Winchester." I look at Stiles then at the Sheriff. "My name's Mel Winchester."
