"What's going on?" Alec questioned as he and Isabelle entered their father's office.
"Sit." was all that Maryse said as she gestured to the couch in front of them.
Robert looked at his two eldest children. "It's no surprise Jace isn't here..."
"He got held up, said to start without him." Isabelle covered, but they all knew that was not the whole story.
"I'm sure he has a good reason." Maryse added as she looked at her frustrated husband.
And so he started informing them about what the Clave thinks of the recent events involving the Seelies and Valentine, he and his wife cutting each other off frequently. Their mother also told them about an envoy coming to observe them and begged for their best behavior.
Alec and Izzy looked at each other.

"Alec, you think you could get my stele back?" Little Max Lightwood hopefully looked at his elder brother as they walked into the main foyer of the institute.
"They took it away because you nearly burned down the Mumbai Institute."
Max pouted. "How many times do I have to say it was an accident?"
"Look Max," Alec started as he crouched down to his little brother's eye level. "Someone very important is coming to visit alright? Do you think you can stay out of trouble for just a couple of days? If you do I promise to get your stele back."
They looked up to the sound of the institute doors opening and Valentine sauntering in.
Alec's first instinct was to get Max behind him before his bow appeared in his hand and he fired a shot.
However, Valentine caught it, or at least what he thought was Valentine did. Whoever that was dropped his arrow and grabbed a stele to reveal the glamour.
