Always trying to put
Your two cents in,
And expecting me to change.
Try to fix me up
But I'm not broken,
All you do is leave me stained.

After she'd left, there was an awkward silence. Everybody seemed to be struggling to hold in their laughs, but my mum shot me such a piercing glare she might as well have been shooting laser vision glares at me.

"You know, when you said that you were having friends, I thought you meant one or two people. This is a lot of people, Zoë..." My mother trailed off.

"We can leave, if we're that much of a bother, sorry," Connor spoke apologetically.

"No, no! I didn't mean it like that," Mum laughed lightly. "I'm just pleasantly surprised. I'm so proud of you, Z-"

"Okay then! How about we go out somewhere? Yeah? That sounds good? Alright, let's go!" I cut her off by clapping my hands together loudly.

Luckily, I wasn't hauled out of the room by my ear, but my mum settled with a warning glare.

"I think we should be heading home," Camryn sighed, gesturing towards Connor and Cedric. They both groaned in sync.

"And I should get going, too. We have a history pop quiz tomorrow-" Declan started before Arielle clamped a hand over his mouth.

"Yeah, yeah, we get it. You're my ride. So let's go," she spoke, as Declan made muffled sounds from under her hand.

"Tris, babe, I think we should get going as well, don't you think?" Alyssa said, moving over to Tris and looping her arms through his and kissing him on the cheek.

Surprised by the sudden bout of affection his girlfriend was showing him, Tristan nodded absentmindedly.

She literally tugged him out of the door, calling a goodbye to all of us.

"Bye, Karen," the triplets, Arielle and Declan said, as they left as well.

As soon as they were gone, Aiden bounced downstairs with his Nerf gun in his hands.

"Hi, mum!" He greeted, flinging himself at her. "Did you buy any food?" He asked.

"No, but..." She started, probably waiting for a drumroll. When nothing came she rolled her eyes at us.

"Fine then, be that boring. Anyway, I joined a cooking class! It's all about healthy cooking, and I'll be attending with Natasha and Ruth!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air.

"Mum, that's really great," I said, smiling. The past few months all she's done was take care of me. I was so happy to see her finally getting back into her life.

"But, um, the thing is..." She trailed off, uncertain.

"What? What is it?" I snapped at her, suddenly wary of the sheepish expression on her face.

"Cameron's going to stay over while we're gone. Every other day."
