Chapter 9
Tia heard him come through the kitchen door. It had creaked for as long as she could remember.
And she didn’t want to oil it. It had character. She had her back to him and continued putting the roses in a vase.
“Where shall I put these love?”
She glanced over her shoulder and saw that he had a suitcase and two duffle bags.
She turned back and tried to hide her giggle.“Planning on staying for a while?”
He didn’t answer her.
She nearly jumped a foot in the air as she felt his hands on her shoulders.
“As long as it takes love.”
Immediately frustrated. She set the flowers down.
“Come on. I’ll show you to your room.”
He picked up his luggage and followed her. She led him up the stairs. She opened the door to a room that contained a huge queen size bed.
It was done in yellows and creams. “You can stay in here. Bathroom is in the hall. Only one bathroom.” She turned to look at him.
He was watching her again.“Where is your room?” he asked.
Tia became very nervous. “Um, across the hall.”
Zayn smiled at her once again. He bent forward and kissed her on the nose.
“Just checking love.”
Tia watched him as he began to put some things away. “So, um, how’s your Mom?”
“She’s good. She still asks about you.” He said without looking at her.
Tia felt very uncomfortable with that comment. She knew Zayn’s mom and she probably wasn’t on her top ten list.
“Oh.”
Zayn turned to look at her. “Hey, it’s okay. She misses you Tia.”
