chapter four || gone
Taylah's POV

Packing my last box, I sighed and sat down on the edge of my bed. I started to think whether moving into the packhouse was a good idea, I mean my own mate doesn't even want me!

I knew I was going to miss my mom a lot. She's been my only companion by my side for eleven years. I've never had anyone else to tell all my problems to besides my mom, she was the bestfriend I never had.

I let out another sigh, placing my head in my hands.

Being an adult is hard.

'Layla?' I called out to my wolf.

'Yes?' She replied.

'Is moving away from mom really worth it... I mean we won't have anyone at the packhouse,' I said worriedly.

'Yes, Taylah, this will all be worth you watch and see. Everything will fall into place and we will get to live happily with our mate!' She squealed.

'He doesn't want us Layla! You heard every word he said,' I whimpered.

'Trust me, Taylah.' She cooed, before blocking me out.

Replaying my wolfs words in my head I decided that I needed to do this. I can't continue running from an unknown somebody. That's not how I want to live.

When I was younger, I had my career ready and planned. I would finish high school and take a gap year to travel around the world, it has always been a dream of mine to travel and see the world. When I return back from travelling I would start my studies towards becoming a pack doctor!

Another big dream of mine was to be able to help and heal people from my future pack, I've always been intrigued by the idea of being a doctor.

Standing up from my bed, I decided to go downstairs to get food. Walking out of the room I walked down the hallway and headed for the stairs.

Walking passed my mom's room I slowed down and placed my ear on the door. I felt myself start to cry as I heard my mothers whimpers coming from the other side of the door.

Taking a breathe, I opened the door and entered the room, closing the door softly behind me. I slowly made my way towards my mom, before taking a seat right beside her on her large bed.

"Mom?"

Mom looked up at me and my heart broke at the sight in front of me. She had tear stained cheeks and bloodshot red eyes. She had prominent bags beneath her eyes and her hair was messed up all knotted together.

"I'm so sorry Tay," she sobbed, throwing her skinny arms around my neck.

I wrapped my arms around her and snuggled my head into the crook of her neck.

"For what, mom?" I asked softly.

"I've never taken anything by you into consideration. I never stopped to think to myself, how would Taylah feel? It's never been that way. W-with us being on the run my only question to myself was, would Taylah be safe? As long as I had you by my side I would fight until the end." She caressed my cheek and I leaned into her touch. "You were my strength and my weakness. Without you I would of had nothing to live for."

By the end of her little speech I had tears rolling down my face and ugly sounding sobs found its way out of my mouth.

"I love you so much mom. I understand what you mean. I'm glad that you've kept me safe for so long, and I don't even know how you've managed to get us this far but I'm glad you did," I whispered.

"I love you so much more my baby."

Having a moment with my mom made me re-think my decision about moving into the packhouse. I love my mom more than anything and I didn't want to leave her, especially knowing she'll be as sad as she is now without me.
