#29 Louis Imagine

“Come on Lela, lets get you into bed now” you say as you pick your 6-year-old daughter up and carry her to her bedroom, “It’s a big day tomorrow! You need some rest if you’re going to stay awake!”

“I’m going to be seven!” Lela yells excitedly.

“I know! Your seventh birthday! You have to stop growing now, you’re getting too big too fast”

You couldn’t believe how quickly your precious little daughter has grown up. It feels like just yesterday you told your husband, Louis, that you were pregnant. Now she was almost seven. Time flies. You were upset because Louis had to miss Lela’s birthday as he was on tour with the band but you knew how much his career meant to him and he would have been with you and your daughter if he could. You could tell that Lela was upset not having her daddy with her too. She asked when he was coming home every day. You really wish that he could see how fast she was growing and be there for this special moment.

“Okay mommy, I brushed my teeth so dey are nice and clean” Lela said coming into her bedroom where you were waiting for her on the cream chair.

“That’s my big girl. Now we can tuck you in with your blankets, who do you want to cuddle with tonight? What about Lacey the bear?” you asked, picking her up and putting her into bed.

“Yes! Dats the one daddy got me!” your daughter squealed.

“That’s right, he did” you say tucking Lela in.

“Mommy… when is daddy coming home? He’s going to miss my birthday” Lela asked shyly.

“Daddy will be home next month, but you know he loves you with all his heart right?” you ask hugging your daughter tight.

“mmm… can you tell me the story again?” Lela asked under the blankets.

“Sure love” you say getting under the covers with your daughter.

Lela loved hearing the story about how you and Louis met. She found it so romantic and funny and loved it when you told it to her before she goes to sleep. Usually you and Louis tell her together but for the past few months it had only been you and Lela.

As you got comfy in the bed next to Lela, she closed her eyes and got ready to listen to your comforting voice.

“Well, I was in London studying at varsity. I love running and so one day I went out for a jog around the park. I forgot to bring my water bottle so I stopped at the water fountain in the middle of the park and bent down to get some water and…”

“It squirted all over me…”

I could recognize that voice anywhere. That thick British accent that always managed to calm me down and relax me. The voice that belonged to the love of my life. My head shot up and I saw him there, standing in the doorway, smiling.

“Daddy!!! You’re home!!!” Lela screeched at the top of her lungs and leaped out of the bed.

“Hey baby girl! I missed you so much” Louis shouted as he picked Lela up and spun her around planting kisses on her head.

You smiled at the sight of your husband and daughter together. You were so happy and so surprised that Louis was here! He wasn’t supposed to be home for another month! You jumped off the bed and ran to your husband.

“LOUIS! Oh my gosh! I can’t believe you’re home,” you shouted, a tear coming out your eyes.

“I missed you so much Taryn! It feels so good to have you back in my arms” Louis said and hugged you tightly.

“Mommy, daddy isn’t going to miss my birthday after all!!” Lela shouted happily.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world honey, now, should we finish the story then?” Louis said, walking over to the pink single bed and tapping next to him gesturing for me to sit with him.

“Yes yes!” our daughter shouted and crawled under her blankets.

“Okay, well, I was with your uncles Niall, Harry, Zayn and Liam and they had told me to ask the girl at the water fountain out because I thought she was pretty but when I walked over to her to say hello and introduce myself, I got squirted with water!” Louis said while holding you close and smiling, “and I asked her out after she had apologized a few times and I had dried a bit. It was the best day of my life.”

You absolutely loved remembering the moments that you and Louis had spent together. He made you happier and brought humor into every situation. Even though you were quite embarrassed that you had Louis drenched in water before even saying hello, you wouldn’t change anything because now you had a perfect family together.

You looked over to Lela to notice that she was fast asleep with a small smile on her face. Louis bent down to kiss your head as you both took in the sight of your daughter sleeping peacefully.

“Almost seven… Wow” you said quietly.

“I know, I can’t believe it! Soon I will have to get the shotgun out” Louis said chuckling to himself.

You both got up from the bed and tiptoed out the room. As you closed the door halfway, Louis took you in his arms and hugged you for a moment.

“I missed you so much Taryn, you know that right? I am so glad to be back” he said holding you.

“I missed you too, definitely the best surprise I ever got and I know Lela really appreciates you coming for her birthday” you say hugging your husband back.

You both shared a kiss and enjoyed each other’s company for the rest of the night. You felt so happy knowing that Louis would do anything for this family.
