Elsa woke up to a buzzing from her cellphone. It was Jack, who'd recently gotten her number from Nanny.
< Good morning, Elsa. >
Elsa smiled at her phone upon reading the text. It was nice to get a small morning greeting, just knowing someone was thinking about her. For the past few days, Jack had been her go-to about everything she thought of. She somehow felt a little lighter, a little bit more springy having someone to unload all of her problems and thoughts to.
< Good morning, Jackson. >
Elsa rolled out of her bed slowly and sat up, taking her phone off its charger. The only notification she had was Jack's text.
A small knock landed on her wooden door to her room.
"Elsa?"
Anna. Elsa pulled the covers over her head again and pretended to be asleep, tightly closing her eyes. Anna pushed her way in through the heavy door to Elsa's room, her bare feet completely silent against the tile floor.
"I know you're awake, Elsa," Anna retorted, jumping on her bed. "Where have you been going every day? You leave the house at like 10 in the morning and don't come back until 10 at night."
"You go to your friends' houses everyday, I'm surprised you noticed," Elsa shot back with an annoying tone. It hurt her to hurt her sister so rudely, but until she learned how to control her power, she refused to get too close to anyone. But for some reason, her rules bent because of Jack. He was the only exception. She hated herself for that, but he had begun to make her think that she really needed at least... someone to talk to about what she felt.
"But this is all of a sudden, Elsa. I've always gone out. You've always stayed in. What's the --"
She was cut off by Elsa's phone vibrating on Elsa's bedside table.
"What is this?" Anna exclaimed shrilly, snatching Elsa's phone before she had a chance to get it. "Who's Jackson? Jack? Jack OVERLAND? You've got to be kidding me!"
Elsa tackled her sister to the ground, desperately stretching to reach her phone. "Anna! Give it to me! I don't take your things without permission!"
"Elsa!" Anna shrieked, scurrying away and gaping at the phone. "You talk to him but not to me? What kind of sister are you?" She sounded hurt, but proceeded to open up Elsa's phone and scroll through her messages.
"It's not like that!" Elsa said, rolling out of her bed and rushing over to snatch her phone away. But Anna was too fast and flew out of Elsa's room, slamming the heavy door behind her.
"ANNA!" Elsa screamed, feeling the fear and ager rising in her chest. A cool wind surrounded her as she tore through her door and sprinted down the hallway, still in her silk pajama pants and button-up top. "Bring it back right now or I'm calling Mom and Dad while they're on vacation!" Elsa was yelling at the top of her lungs. It felt like she was shaking the whole mansion.
Anna stepped out in front of Elsa behind a corner in front of the staircase, pale in fear. She held Elsa's phone out in front of her, her eyes wide. "Okay, okay... Jeez, Elsa..."
Elsa snatched her phone from Anna and spun around, sprinting back to her room, her eyes beginning to tear up with anger. How stupid of Anna to do that! She couldn't believe her sister. She slammed the door to her room closed once more, sitting against the hard, thick wood, breathing heavily. Now Anna finally knew that she could talk. She knew, being the persistent child she was, that Anna would try everyday to get her to talk or do something with her.
< Coming over today? >
Elsa sighed, holding her phone to her heart and closing her eyes. Now Anna really knew where she had been going for the past few days. She was just happy none of her power had been released upon her sister. She'd tried to keep that part a secret from her sister for a long, long time.
