Elsa screamed, not knowing what else to do.

"JACK!" She sobbed, using her power to make the ice thicker as she rushed out to where he fell. "JACK, NO!"

But Jack had already begun to sink. Elsa could not reach him without going under herself, an act that would have surely killed her. She screamed, looking down at his cold, pale, lifeless body. Tears flooded her face as she tore away, running back through the forest, screaming. Coming out of the forest and seeing Jack's car, Elsa only cried harder, as Jackson had the keys in his pocket. She would have to go by foot.

Elsa sprinted as fast as she could, harder than ever. It'd only taken Jack 10 minutes to drive to the park from her house, but Elsa on foot was not near as fast her Jack's car. The tears kept falling, blinding Elsa as she ran. The winds had picked up again, as well, the snow drifting down in thick flakes, crunching under her boots.

It took her forty-five minutes to get to Jack's house. Her parents' ceremony over, as it was short and sweet (Arendelles didn't like to draw things out), the family was sure to be home. She was so exhausted by the time she reached his house, she collapsed in a heap by the front door, the wind whipping at her hair and her tears continuing to streak down her face. Her sobs were loud and one would say quite obnoxious, but nevertheless, she could not stop.

Knock, knock, knock.

Elsa beat out 3 steady knocks at the door of Jack's house. Mr. Overland answered it, completely astounded to see Elsa in a heap at his front door.

"Elsa!" He exclaimed, picking her up by her arms. He pulled her inside, already knowing something of the worst had happened. "Where is my son? Did he not drive you?"

Elsa choked on her words and tears, spitting out the phrase, "He's drowned!"

Jack's mother, sister, and father, and even the dogs, all gathered around her. Emma had fetched her a cup of tea, and Jenni pulled off her cold clothes and wrapped her in a warm, fuzzy blanket and sat her by the fire. There, Jenni Overland made Elsa spill the whole story. Of course, she kept her powers a secret, claiming that with her parents' death and being overcome with grief she just needed to get out, and Jack knew of a cool place in the forest where they could get out to for awhile. She explained how, as they played a friendly game of tag, her scarf had blown off and settled on the ice of the pond, and how she'd walked out to get it only to realize the ice was beginning to crack underneath her and how Jack had saved her at the cost of his own life. Telling the lies mixed with the truth, Elsa made sure to keep her story straight for her own sake.

"He'd always been my hero," Elsa whispered, "but he saved my life..." She broke into silent sobs, tears once again coating her face with water and salt. Jack's parents stared back at her in disbelief, tears in their eyes. Emma held Elsa's hand, telling her everything was okay. Lana and Luna laid at Elsa's feet, sometimes perking up at sound of a sob.

"Well," Jenni said, stroking Elsa's hair gently. "We have to get you home, soon."

"Please, no..." Elsa cried quietly, her eyes pleading up at Jenni. "I can't go home yet... My sister would never forgive me. Tomorrow, there will be 7 big-leader politicians at the house to decide who the next leader will be -- the next Whip, that is. I have to be there, in place of my father... And.." she took a deep breath, "it's very likely the next Whip will be me."

"I thought Jack said you weren't politically active," Jenni said.

"I'm not." Elsa sighed, wiping her tears away with her bare hand. "But I am my father's daughter... And... you know... the thinking apparently is hereditary. The lesser "leaders," I guess you'd call them, have already said they'd want me to be the next Whip."
