Paul and I have build a very good relationship. We can be seen together like almost everywhere.
One day, after school, I went to a park. The sun was bright and warm. The grass was covered with blankets of yellow and pink wild flowers.
I sat on one of the bench and read my favorite novel. As I was about to finish chapter three, my phone rang.
It was from John.
" Hey John..."
" How are you ...?" I asked.
" I'm great bookworm..." John said.
We had a long length conversation until I reached back home. John knew about Paul. I told him about Paul on our very first chat through Skype.
John always had this crazy idea that Paul would propose to me one day. I denied him all the time because I knew about Paul.
Talking to John reminded me of all my connections back there. I truly missed all my friends and my parents too.
My parents have never been left out. I would talk to them every night before I go to bed.
Surprisingly, that very night Paul called me. He sounded nervous.
Before The Call To Lucy
" Hey man... Recently I have been seeing you with Lucy..."
" What's up..." Larry asked.
Larry was Paul's childhood friend.
" Nothing special...." Paul replied while gulping his coffee.
" They say never lie to a childhood friend...!" Larry raised his eyebrow.
" I've been analyzing you this few weeks and you're not the Paul I knew...." Larry
Said." What do you mean..?" Paul asked.
" Firstly, you have been kind to me, which has never happened even on my birthday...!"
" Secondly, you're always carrying your phone around..."
" Thirdly, your face shines so brightly as though you've applied every facial cream you can find...."
" And...-" Larry's list was interrupted when Paul spoke,
" Oh.... Stop it Larry...!"
" I don't understand what you're talking about...!"
" It's English... Not Spanish....!" Larry mocked.
" Okay now.... What are you trying to say...?" Paul asked.
" Can't you get it...?"
" You have a crush on Lucy....!" Larry explained.
" What...?!" Paul cooed.
" Oh come on... You don't have to hide anymore..." Larry mocked again.
" Hey it's not crush... It's just that I like her..." Paul tried to explain.
" We call that crush..." Larry said as he raised his collar.
" I mean really.... Like really...!" Paul sounded.
" So, when are you going to tell her...? Larry asked.
" Nah...I'm not going to tell her..." Paul said.
" Why not ...?" Larry jerked.
" I mean I can't just go and tell her that I like her... It will spook her out...!" Paul replied.
" Oh... Okay, I understand... You're afraid to face her...."
" Why don't you call her and talk about it ....?" Larry suggested.
" It's not as easy as you think Larry..."
" I'm always tongue- tied when I look at Lucy..."
" It's like I'm out of vocabulary..." Paul confessed.
" That's the whole point...."
" Call her..."
" She's not going to appear on the phone screen...!"
Larry smirked and tossed Paul's phone and signalled him to call. Then, he walked out leaving Paul alone.
