Paul came to my home early the next morning. I made him his favourite coffee.

He took a sip and kept his eyes on me. I just looked at him and continued to drink mine.

He placed his cup on the table and hold my hand.

" Is there something you want to tell me..?" He asked.

His touch made me want to cry but I tried to hold back.

" What made you ask this...?" I enquired.

" You looked broken yesterday..." He spoke.

" Nothing like that Paul..."

" I was just tired because of my homework...."

" You know... It was too much last week..." I tried to cover up.

Paul rubbed his thumb on my hand and sounded mellowly,

" Lilo.... Why are you lying....?

I could not hold back my emotions anymore. I ran to my room. Paul followed back. I went and stood facing the window.

He placed his hand on my shoulder and reminded me,

" You promised to be true to me..."

" Why are you not telling the truth...?"

I just sobbed. He came facing me and held my cheek. I kept on crying. I pressed my face on his chest and kept weeping.

" Lucy... What happened girl...?" He asked.

" I can't hide it from you Paul...."

" I've tried..."

" I truly can't..." I answered between my cry.

" Okay now..."

" Come sit here..."

" I'll bring you some water..." He comforted.

I prayed in my heart and asked God to give me strength to overcome this. Paul walked in with a glass of water. I finish drinking the water and handed over the glass to him. He sat aside the glass on the table near the bed.

" That's it Lucy..."

" Just breath..." Paul said.

" Want to talk about it now...?" He asked.

" Yeah... I have to..."

" It's about the earthquake..." I said.

" Earthquake..??" Paul puzzled.

I tried to hold back my tears but it kept flowing within my control.

" You know... It happened yesterday..." I said.

" Yeah.. I know... I saw it in the news..." Paul replied.

" It hit where my parents was..." I confessed.

" Oh no Lucy... You didn't think that they-...."

" I guess I did..."

" My instincts never went wrong...."

" And this time, my instinct is telling me that my parents did not make it...."

" How I wish my instinct wouldn't be true....!" I said and grabbed the pillow beside me in frustration.

" You can't loose hope Lucy.... There could be a chance that they are alive...." Paul suggested.

" I don't know what to expect, Paul...."

" I lost contact with them..."

" There's no reply from John either...!" I worried.

Paul brought me into a hug and whispered,

" Don't worry honey bee..."

" I'll be with you no matter what happens..."

I hugged him tighter and said,

" I'm sorry for not telling the truth..."

" It's okay Lucy... I can understand...." Paul replied comfortingly.
