" Hey Lucy....."

" Have you done your project...?" Paul asked.

" Yes..."

" I've done it..." I replied.

First Day In School At Manhattan

The first time I entered into my new classroom, I saw a guy sitting on the table with his left leg sweeping the floor.

He was childishly chatting with his friends. Silence consumed the classroom right after my figure stepped into class.

I stood at a corner and waited for the teacher to enter into the classroom. Some of the students looked at me and whispered among them. I felt truly embarrassed.

I turned my attention towards that guy I saw earlier and he was actually looking at me. I blushed even more. I felt like my cheeks was burning.

I didn't want to be rude on my first day so I looked back at him and smiled. He replied my smile but his eyes was locked on me.

Suddenly, a lady in her 20's rushed into the classroom. She was talking and doing stuffs quickly. Like she was a machine.

After setting up everything, she came towards me and asked,

" Are you Lucy...?"

I just nodded. She accompanied me to the center of the class and introduced me to everyone. Some of the students stared at me like I was a specimen. I felt weird. It made me think twice of my appearance.

Then she continued,

" Lucy... You'll be sitting beside Paul..."

She pointed her finger towards an empty seat beside a guy.

" This can't be coincidence..." I thought to myself. He was the guy who was starring at me the whole time.

I knew nothing about him except for his name, Paul.

I walked towards the seat and dragged the chair out and placed my bag on it. I whispered to him,

" Is this seat temporarily empty or - ?"

Paul replied,

" No..."

" It is always empty..."

" I don't really prefer anyone sitting beside me but I think you don't have a choice and so do I..."

I just smiled by his words. I don't know if he was going to be comfortable with me beside him but as he said, I have no choice.

Paul looked really smart. Usually, teenagers in his age would not be like him. You know, he dressed smartly, his hair was neatly cut and he knows his ethics. He was pretty friendly too.

Paul had many proposals but he didn't seem to show any interest on them. I've heard many people say that girls would be worshipping guys who was hot looking but I've never thought I could witness it myself.

Wherever Paul went, girls would buzz around him like bees. Paul never showed interest on any of them.

I did once heard Paul advising Rose, one of our classmate when she proposed to him during our recess time. I liked the way he avoided her. He wasn't being harsh on her but he managed to convince Rose that he was not suitable for her.

To have teenagers that flirts around nowadays, Paul stood out among them. He was different. He acted maturely.
