I'm a people watcher. The people I pass by on the streets, the people I make coffee for, the people that sit next to me on the bus, I remember their faces. If I've seen you once, I'll be able to spot you twice.
So when he walked onto the bus, his mouth and hair covered, all it took for me to recognize him was his eyes. They shined in a way I had never seen. He was shy, but he knew that if he tried hard enough, he could be the best.
He looked around the bus, searching for a seat, then his eyes met mine. I held his gaze for a minute before tearing my eyes away and looking back out the window.
He walked down the aisle until he found a seat two rows in front of me. He sat down and put his ear buds in and stared out the window.
The distance between us felt massive but at the same time too small. He didn't turn around to look at me. But I couldn't help myself from staring at the back of his head. The ends of hair that stuck out from the hat. The strong muscles in his neck and shoulders. The was the sun shines against his bare, pale skin.
These thoughts haunted me until I reached my stop. I stood up and gathered my stuff. I kept my eyes forward as I walked off the bus. But what was outside wasn't what I expected. I was the only one getting off and as soon as I could see off the bus, camera flashes shot off and a crowd of screaming girls held up signs.
Knowing who they were actually looking for, I continued to get off the bus. But when I walked into the crowd a bunch of them started grabbing for me and they started to scream louder. I tried to back away quickly but I ran into someone behind me. A thin layer of cloth was quickly but softly placed over my mouth and two straps wrapped around my ears.
Then I felt my weight lift off my feet and my legs were lifted into the air.
"Woah!"
A pair of strong arms held me close to them. I looked up to see who has picked me up and I saw the same face I had seen on the bus.
Girls screamed louder and more hands reached out. Jungkook turned around to be between me and the fans. He looked around streets and once he saw somewhere to go, he pushed through the fans and started running. With me still in his arms bridal style.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Just be quite." I shut my mouth and held on tight with my arms around his neck.
He rushed into a restaurant and ran to the back where there were three doors. A back fire exit leading to the back of the restaurant. A women's bathroom. And a men's bathroom. He looked at each door, thinking of where to go.
Commotion broke out in the restaurant as teenage girls rushed in. The screech of the legs of chairs and tables rubbing against the ground rang out. I looked behind us to check how close the were. We were partially hidden by the corner but I could still see out.
I looked up at Jungkook was eyes asking, 'what do we do?'. He looked at me then at the men's restroom. Quickly, he pushed the door open with his back and then quickly shut it behind us. He locked the door than placed me down.
"I can't be here! This is the men's restroom!" I yelled. He shushed me and came closer.
"Stay quite. We have to climb out that window." He said pointing to a small window that my butt would barely fit through.
"Are you crazy?"
"Yeah. I am. Let's go." He dragged me to the window then unlocked the hinges. "Come on." He interlocked his fingers and put them out for me to put my foot into. I looked at him, at the window, the door, and then back at him.
I placed one hand on the window sill, the other on his shoulder, and put my foot in his hands. He easily lifted me up and I poked my head through the window. I pulled my waist through and then tried to get through without falling face first.
I fell through the window and landed on my side into a deep puddle of water. My jeans and shirt were soaked.
"Jungkook!" I said turning to look at the window. He was already most of the way out. He pulled his legs through and landed on his feet. His shoes filled with water than he grabbed my hand.
Together, we looked like two normal teenage kids. Jeans and masks. But my clothes were wet and we trailed water which made us stand out.
We stood in an alleyway and trash cans sat along the sides.
"Let's go." He lead me down the alley as we kept to the shadow out of the moonlight. The night brought a cold wind and the water made me colder. Jungkook continued to hold my hand and water dripped down onto his.
I did my best to keep my hand from shaking so he wouldn't know I was cold. My legs felt somewhat numb from the cold and anyone nearby would say that I had probably peed my pants multiple times.
The walk was long and cold. The street were bare and we stood out in the emptiness. He walked me to a large, tall, silver building and we entered through the front doors.
It was more of an office building. The furniture was modern and matched the aura of the building. A young, beautiful lady sat at the front desk and nodded to us as we walked past her.
I felt bad. Behind me was a trail of water that had followed me all the way from the restaurant. Jungkooks shoes squeaked from the water as he walked. Someone was going to have to clean up the trail. Hopefully not me.
Jungkook lead me by the hand to the elevators. I had never seen so many in one place. There were four elevators in each side of the room. Jungkook pushed the button to call the elevator and dragged me inside when the door opened.
Although there was nowhere else for me to go, he still held my hand. I stared down at the floor as I thought of my hand in his. It was warm but I could feel the cold from the water reaching its. His hand was soft and I felt safe just by our simple connection.
The elevator door opened on the tenth level. This floor had a more homey feel to it. He led me to the left and all the way to the end of the hallway where a white, thick door stood. He pulled out a ring of keys from his pocket and unlocked the door, finally letting go of my hand.
I wrapped my arms around myself to cover up the feel of openness. I followed Jungkook into the room. It was dark and a large window, revealing the lights of the city at night, covered the opposite wall.
"You can stay here tonight." He said as he led me through a side hallway and into a one bed bedroom. Jungkook stayed in the doorway as I entered the room.
"You should get some sleep." He said. "Goodnight." He nodded and closed the door.
The only light in the room was from the moon. It was small and held only a few things. A small dresser, a twin bed, and a night stand. I laid my bag on the bed and slowly walked to the corner of the room. I sat down and leaned my head against the wall, my arms still wrapped around me for warmth.
My head was spinning full of thoughts. I couldn't focus on one. All I could do was stare into the distance. The room was quite and the darkness pressed against me. It was late and sleep tugged at me. I, for some reason, wasn't scared. The room smelled like Jungkook and I felt safe with my arms wrapped around me.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep in the corner. The next day was going to be a mess and I didn't want to deal with it now.
