Avery Campanaro was running downstairs, already 5 minutes late.
Great! Just what she needed, already late for her first day of school. She would now be attending school at Blue Coast High in California. Her parents both got a job offer, moving them from Florida to California. At first she didn't want to leave her cozy home, her friends and the heavy populated streets. But then she realized that this was a great opportunity.
Avery Campanaro was 17 and only a junior in high school. She was 5'5 but, known for her long, lean and pasty-pale legs with a slender frame on top. Her old guy friends would tease because of her "petite rack" as her best friend Will would say. She had violet eyes that sparkled with mischief, usually hidden by Ray Band sunglasses, her auburn hair flowing down in soft wavy curls.
Looking out the window of the car as she drove, the ocean waves were crystal blue. She wondered if that was why this little community town was named Blue Coast. Taking a right off the main road, she finally arrived at Blue Coast High. Looking up she saw the school looming over the tall trees, almost hiding the school. The school was something she had never seen before. It reminded her of the mid-evil castles in children's fairy-tale books. The high arches of the school towered over the trees even from a far distance.
Racing into the parking lot, I attracted a lot of unwanted attention with my music blaring from the speakers. Finally finding a parking spot she noticed a lot of people were staring. The guys were all drooling over her new Bugatti Veyron, while most girls were glaring. I was the talk of the town lately. They usually don't get new students here seeing as you had to live in the community to go here. Turning off the music and pulling on her sunglasses, she got out of the car and started walking to the big wooden double doors, leading into the school. Everybody was silent as she walked, making the sound of her stiletto covered feet louder than it seemed. Not liking the attention, she raced as quickly and graceful as possible.
Feeling like someone was trying to burn a hole in her, she turned around quickly on her heal. There in the front of her was a large group of people. They were all just staring at her. It was really creepy! Why are they staring at me? What, have they never seen a human being before? Pulling down my sunglasses to the bridge of my nose, she stared right back at them.Quickly they all turned to look in different directions, guilty that she caught them. Giving them a roll of her eyes, she put her sunglasses back on and plastered a smirk on her face. Her head was thrown back in laughter as she walked away and disappeared into the door.
Stepping into the hallway, Avery was transported into a different time. Inside was very different than the outside. The brick lined walls reminded her of a sandy beach. Reaching out to feel the wall, she stopped in mid strive by a shadow blocking the warm sunlight. Turning around she saw the same group of people that she encountered outside. Before Avery could even speak, a raven haired girl with honey gold eyes introduced herself.
"Hi my name is Rose Blackwood, she said. Her hand was sticking out, obviously waiting for me to shake it. She looked like she belonged on a cover of Elite Magazine, her long hair in a side braid. Even with little make up on she still looked like a goddess. Finally putting down her hand, realizing that I wasn't going to shake it."This is Robert Blackwood my brother, she gestured to her left. He was the complete opposite of her with blonde hair and blue eyes. "And this is my adoptive brother Angel Alexandre, she said looking to her right.
Averting my eyes to the right, I saw a guy standing there. Staring at him I felt a weird sensation in my stomach. To say that he was hot was totally an understatement. He was gorgeous with his honey blond hair. His eyes reminded Avery of grey clouds before a rain storm. He was well toned with muscle and by the looks of him, she was sure he has a six pack underneath his grey t-shirt. Blushing Avery looked away. Never ever had she had a crush on anyone. She hasn't even had her first kiss.
"Um hi, I'm Avery, she replied with a small wave. "But I'm sure you already knew that". Rose nodded her head in a fast motion of agreement.
Ring Ring Ring
Thank gosh saved by the bell! Avery turned and walked down the hall. She didn't get too far when she felt a warm and muscular hand on her arm. Looking up Avery saw that it was Angel. "Yes", Avery asked trying to keep from blushing but failing miserably. His face instantly changing from a smile to a smirk. I guess he noticed the blush. "I saw that we have the same math class, you want to walk with me so you don't get lost... He trailed off nervously, rubbing the back of his tan neck. "Umm yea um sure, I'd like that, she said. Her voice stumbling to find the right words. Cursing herself for stumbling.
When they made it to the class, they were 5 mins late. Sitting in the back of the room, Avery started to go off to dream land. Snapping back to, she paid attention when she heard the teacher say something about partners. He explained how this class was going to be doubling as biology class. Our first assessment was to get to know your partner more.
He picked up the list and started to read the partners. Please don't be paired up with Angel, please don't.
"Avery Campanaro and Angel Alexandre. Great! Just what I needed. Swiveling her head to the left of the room, Angel was staring at her. Biting her lip I tried to ignore him but he wasn't having any of that. Finally the bell ran cutting off the teacher in mid-sentence. Avery flew out of the classroom and out into the hallway before Angel could catch up.
