CHAPTER 11

“Wow,” My eyes widened at the sight before me. Everything was colourful... and happy and people looked like they were having so much fun. The whole place just screamed FUN. The rides—which varied from humongous to small ones, for the little ones—were brimming with giggling and laughing people, kids and adults alike. There were also different kinds of booth for foods and other games to play.

“I thought you’d like it,”

“Are you kidding me? I love it!” I squeaked in delight.

Wolfy looked pleased. “I’m glad you do.”

“Y-you see... I’ve never been to an amusement park before.” I admitted, looking down in embarrassment.

He beamed at me, “Me too.”

“Really? Then, are we just going to stand here?” I dragged Wolfy inside. “Let’s have some fun!”

“So, what are we going to ride first?”

“Let’s ride that!” I pointed at a tall ride with a rectangular seat that holds at least fifteen people. The rectangular seat goes up and falls down. It looked fun and thrilling. It was called, “The Drop of Doom.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah! It looks fun.” I grinned at him. “Don’t worry, I don’t have a fear of heights.”

He scoffed, “Yeah, but you might just develop one if you ride that.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, “Are you underestimating me?”

“Not really, I’m just concerned.”

“Then, I’m challenging you! Whoever shouts first buys a treat for the other.”

He snickered, “Challenge accepted.”

We went into the waiting line of the ride. Good thing there weren’t too many people in the line. We were able to get a ticket right away.

We sat together in the front part of the rectangular seat and buckled our seat belts.

“You ready to lose, Wolfy?” I smiled at him tauntingly.

“Not a chance.” He said arrogantly. “I’m winning this thing.”

And we rode off.

The ride slowly climbed up. If it was a book, I’d think it was aiming to build up the tension. I gripped the guide handle and anticipated the drop. When it reached the peak of the steel, it dropped down rapidly. My heart started hammering against my chest; I was starting to feel the thrill of the drop. But I didn’t shout, I remembered our deal.

I looked at Wolfe, he looked... green. I laughed secretly to myself. He looked awfully sick, trying to keep himself from shouting. I think he has a fear of heights but he was too ashamed to admit it.

I tugged at his sleeve. “It’s alright, boy. Don’t keep yourself from shouting.”

“But...ugh…the deal,”

I grinned at him, “Let’s just say, I won.”

He rolled his eyes, “Tch, fine,”

Wolfe shouted at the top of his lungs. I followed him, holding my hands up. It was exhilarating. Every time the seat goes up, it feels as if my heart is sinking down to my stomach and every time it goes down, my heart jumps to my throat.

We laughed, we shouted, and had a lot of fun.

“Not so bad for our first ride, huh?” I nudged a sick-looking Andrew in the stomach.
