Reese, her five dogs, the horses, and her twin Riction traveled through the calm and quiet forest. They could hear water rushing from the creek, the horses' hooves, the dogs sniffing, birds singing, and animals going back to their burrows and nest until night. There was a clean smell in the air.
It smelt like fresh grass, mixtures of wild flowers, leaves, and salt from the quarry on their property. It was a calming scent that was often present no matter what season. The two could basically taste the sweet juicy berries, and the cool waters of the creek.
The sight was beautiful too. The bluffs above the cliffs were chiseled with age. The forest floor covered with leaves, fallen trees, and plants. The dirt paths were covered in tire tracks from trips on ATVS and the gator. Tracks from cattle, deer, horses, and other animals ever present.
The twins stopped, and slid off the saddles. The smooth leather of the reins were in their hand as the teens tied the horses to the rough wood of the post they set. The muddy path was wet and cold. After they tied the horses Reese threw off her uncomfortable boots and stepped in. The cool water washed away all of the soreness those boots caused.
Then the scruffy fur of the Black and tan pit bull/german shepard mix Rosco brushed against her leg as the two year old dog charged in. It was a surprisingly calm afternoon. For Reese that is. When she told Danny and Elliott, the two looked ready to go into shock.
