Home
All of them stood there, completely still. It was as if time itself have been awestruck by what just occurred. Silence was always appreciated by the group of professors. Whenever quietness of their laboratory reached such a level, to the point where pint drops could be heard, they rejoiced. A calm and soothing state of nostalgia always did good. However, this time it was different.
Why?
This is what was wanted, what was suppose to happen. A fully functional life-form that had all the qualifications for a great test subject. With success comes happiness, most of the times. In place of happiness was fear with this achievement. The silence wasn't nostalgic at all, it was eerie. But it didn't had to be that way. At any given moment, one of them could've opened their mouth and said something. But no one did. Instead they stood there like machines with burnt out batteries, their sights focused upon the only lively human.
Or rather, monster.
But how could they be so sure that he is the monster. The male is overall just doing as what was expected of him. And if he were to be a monster, wouldn't that make them also monsters? After all, the eight councilmen took it upon themselves to create what was necessary for the survival of their species. Or so what they thought was necessary. Why couldn't they themselves undergo the tests, to be the one to fail or succeed? Perhaps there was something more to it, a lot more. So really their just surrounded by their own kind.
"So, what is there to be afraid of?" Corporis asked.
The stoic being would then raise his head up and look around. He noticed that they were all staring at him, as if he had done something wrong. For a few moments the male thought about it and came to the logical conclusion that he hadn't. But if there was nothing wrongly done, then what was the reason behind their irrational behavior?
"Master." The male continued as he turned his head up and looked at her.
Anima was the only one who did not look afraid. But is this because she isn't, or rather because she hid it?
"Yes servant?" She responded.
"Have I done something wrong? Why are they all looking at me as if they're afraid, as if they're disgusted with me to the point that they want to kill me right now?" The male asked calmly.
Even though his words carried a tone of worry, the voice he used to speak those words did not. Despite the fact that he's surrounded by them and actually at a disadvantage if what he asked was to be true, Corporis remained still.
Anima turned her head and looked at the professors behind her. What her creation asked of her wasn't so far off. Some of the few looked disgusted, mainly Longanimis. The others were awestruck which could be taken as afraid. But she didn't know for sure of their feelings, nor cared for their feelings.
This is what they asked for. This is what they all wanted. There was no turning back.
"You did nothing wrong, Corporis. No more questions for now. You need to start your studies immediately. One of the professors will take you to your room where you'll catch up on everything you need to know. By the time I come to speak to you, I want you to have all of the information down packed." Anima said as she looked down upon her child- no, her servant.
She wasn't a mother despite that she gave 'birth' to him. Not that there wasn't pain, stress, or other emotions felt like normal mothers undergoing usual pregnancy. There was simply no bond between them and the girl didn't mind at all.
Corporis is a test subject afterall. His purpose is to undergo testings for the survival of the human race. The male's life had no value outside of that and once testings were over...
So was his life.
"Do you understand?" Anima questioned after a few moments of silence without a response for him.
"Yes master." Corporis responded and bowed to show that he comprehended.
"Good. Professor Sanctitas, please take him to his quarters." Asked the woman after she locked onto the professor.
"A-Ah...Yes." The woman responded before she made her way over to the naked male.
Sanctitas's footsteps were soft and her strides were slow, cautious. Her eyes showed fear but were fragile just like her kind heart which made her usual happy facial expression a bit distorted, confusion. All of these details were picked up on, by Corporis that is. But he didn't bring it up or appeared to acknowledge it at all.
"Hello Corporis, my name is Professor Sanctitas. Nice to meet you. May you please follow me?" The elderly professor asked with a wide smile, eyes closed to avoid eye contact.
It was quite interesting to watch their reactions. But the male didn't drag out the welcoming or wanted to. He assumed that Anima would be mad. Thus he got up and began to follow the professor towards his room.
His home.
The walk wasn't too long or too short. If only lasted a few minutes no longer than five, perhaps three. Once they reached his room, the woman went to open to the door but was stopped. Corporis walked in front of her and opened the door for himself and ushered her in. The professor was shocked, surprised to see that the male was the gentleman. This made her smile, genuinely. He didn't however.
After she got into the room, the woman began to arrange everything. She had gotten him towels and made up his beds. After that came the sorting out of all the books in the order requested by Anima and then finally departing. This was all done quite fast. A maid never loses their touch after-all. Corporis then took a seat upon his bed and looked around, becoming well known with his surroundings.
There wasn't much to get well-known with however. The room was quite small. There was no bathroom, no living room, just one room. Everything needed was inside that one square room with white colored padded walls. The shower was in the corner and the toilet was beside it. His bed lied in the opposing corner and the small desk with stacks of books sat in the middle. Of course there was cameras that could not be seen and covered every angle, not that there was many to cover.
It was quite obvious the room was designed with the possibility that Corporis would go insane and become dangerous in mind. Other than that, it was a bland and boring room. Nothing to call home sweet home, nothing to want to come to each and everyday after work, it was nothing. But to him, it was everything.
This small white room was his home. Undeserving of the title, but it was his world, his planet. Corporis knew that he had to live here and would have to find everything necessary in these four white padded walls if he wanted to pass the tests and make his master proud. Thus he didn't complain, or go insane, but instead lived normally. The male never knew what was a great home, or a great planet. So to him, this was everything needed and more. It was amazing.
If only human beings could've appreciated their world like Corporis appreciated this small compact twenty feet wide universe.
If Only...
