No I haven't abandoned this story, I'm just a busy and slow writer. Thanks for all the comments!!!

Friday.

There were many things in life that Zay Babineaux didn't like. Homework, school, and the fact that he couldn't for the life of him keep his mouth shut. Chief of these things was not knowing something. Zay was smart, he knew lots of things. He was so smart in fact that he understood what a waste of time school was. So he was biding his time until graduation so he could do whatever it was he wanted to do with his life. Naturally he knew that there was something up with his best friend Lucas and it was his duty as Lucas's best friend to find out what it was before Farkle did.

"So" he said drawing out the O while he lounged in his chair across from Lucas in the Library.

"Zay." Lucas said in response looked up from his algebra book. After seeing the look on Zay's face he immediately regretted acknowledging his friend's presence.

"What's going on?" Zay asked.

"Well, right now I'm doing algebra. Care to join me?"

"Sorry, I left my book at home."

"You could share mine." Lucas suggested, tilting the book towards Zay.

"I read somewhere that sharing books causes you to learn less and I wouldn't want to do that to you."

"Why thank you." Lucas said tipping his imaginary hat.

"You're welcome buddy."

Lucas's phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it out to reply to the text.

"So how's bae?" Zay asked, Lucas set his phone next to his notebook in case he got a response.

"What?" Lucas asked he tried in vain to hide his smile. "That text was from my mom."

"No one gets that look on their face from a mom text."

"What look are you taking about?" Zay demonstrated.

"Come on my face didn't look like that."

"Oh getting defensive not are we?" Zay crossed his arms.

Lucas's phone vibrated and Zay grabbed it before Lucas could.

"Give it back."

"I didn't know your mom's first name was Maya."

"There's a lot you don't know about my mom." Lucas said snatching the phone back.

"So what movie are you going to see tomorrow?"

"I was going to let her decide."

"How gentleman like of you." Lucas shook his head and tried to focus on his homework.

"Please don't make a big deal about this."

Zay put his hand to his chest like he'd been wounded. "Well I never. So how long has this been going on."

"Well you heard about the thing." He was referring to the kiss.

"Yeah pretty much the entire school knows about that." Lucas blushed.

"So well, since Wednesday. Please don't tell people. Maya doesn't want everyone to make a big deal out of it."

"You can trust me, don't worry." Zay said.

Saturday.

Lucas was starting to wonder if all his dates were going to be doomed. He wasn't expecting Maya's mother to be home when he came to pick her up. He didn't know why he didn't expect her to be there but he did. He made awkward small talk with Katy until he was saved my Maya.
