I was a fool to let you in
You were charming
And managed to worm
Your way into my mind.
With your wit, letting me
Feel a sense of being wanted,
Along with a false sense of hope.
You are a player and
When you didn't get your way
You stung me with what
You believed I couldn't be.
You told me I wasn't one to
Succeed. You told me I
Needed lessons in life that
Only you could give to me.
But all the while you were hoping.
Hoping that I would fall.
That you could catch me...
An innocent. But you never
Did. I bested you at your best
And I wrestled away your charm
And wit. And all you are left with is
The knowledge that you were bested
By an innocent.
