The packs were joined and it was pure confusion as parts and positions had to be reassigned. This was decided by both Alpha's and the Elders, as well as matches held for reassurance of their decisions.

The war wolves were the strongest wolves of both packs, the same with the trackers only the best. And the omegas were well.....the omegas.

But, the biggest decision of them all would have to replace the Alpha Jr. For my parents it was a shock, for me and mostly likely everyone else it was only a matter of time. But I can't say that it didn't hurt when they basically labelled me useless.

The new person who would be Alpha Jr. would take over when the Alphas stepped down. (His father and the other Alpha) Whoever it was, is going to be announced today.

I sat there and held my head down, as you can probably already tell pack meetings aren't my thing. Scratch that gatherings in general.

"You want to leave?" Zuri whispered.

I nodded and she began to lead me out.

As I was leaving Father seemed to be a announcing the Alpha Jr.

"After a lot of discussions and unbiased decisions, it was decided that the third son of Alpha Zavier, would be the Alpha Jr. That is Darius Payne."

I quickly stopped and turned my head in the direction of the stage to see if I heard right.

"Hello, my name is Darius Payne and I'm the Alpha Jr. I pledge to do my absolute best for the pack when I become alpha."

"Do you have a mate?" Someone in the crowd shouted.

"I do. When they're ready, I'll let you meet them."

I turned back around. "Let's go."

"What's wrong, you know that guy?"

"That was the interesting guy from the terrace."

Darius

I climbed up onto the stage after Alpha Alex announced my name.

Xander was about to leave but as soon as he heard my name his head whipped around so fast, I thought he would get whiplash.

I instantly felt bad.

I mean the position was his and here I am strolling up in here and claiming it. The fact that he needed to be replaced must hurt  , like a bunch.

"Hello, my name is Darius Payne and I'm the Alpha Jr. I pledge to do my absolute best for the pack when I become alpha."

I smiled out at the crowd. With a large constellation smile as Xander calls it.

"Do you have a mate?" Someone in the crowd shouted.

I stared directly at Xander, sad that he couldn't see me. "I do. When they're ready, I'll let you meet them."  I said. Which is true I need to let them know.

I looked over at my family and gave them a small smile. When I turned around Xander had disappeared.

I stood there looking around for him.

I soon came down from the stage and started through the crowd. As I was walking through the crowd I got stopped by Luna Henson. "Darius."

"Hello, Luna." I said looking over his head since I was taller than him.

"Congratulations. And you must lead the pack well."

I gave a half-hearted smile. "I will."

He turned to see what I was looking for. "Is something the matter?"

"Oh, I was looking for a friend of mine."

He smiled. "Well, don't let me keep you."

"Goodbye." I gave a small bow of my head before walking around him and going to look for Xander.

I bumped into someone and turned to apologize. I recognized her as the girl who was with Xander.

"Hi, you're...."

"I'm Zuri. Xander's best friend and personal attendant."

"I'm...."

"Darius, I know." She smiled at me.

I smiled back. "Do you know...."

"Where Xander is?" She tilted her head to the side and raised an eyebrow.

I gave a small irritated smile. "You have got to stop doing that."

"Sorry, Xander scolds me about it too. I have this thing for reading people, ra...."

"Rambling and being annoying." I finished.

"Exactly!" Her face brightened with a smile, then it dawned on her. "Hey!"

I then chuckled and she laughed along with me afterwards.

"Oh, Yea. He's upstairs in his library. It's kind of his sanctuary or his haven like thing." She shrugged.

"Thank you Zuri."

"No problem."

I made my way upstairs to see Xander. Hopefully he has isn't mad at me.
