I slowly climbed the stairs and continued down the hallway on the directions given to me by the Beta. I'd have to learn his name at a later date.

I counted the third door before I stopped and knocked. When I didn't hear an answer I proceeded in.

I smelt his strong scent of Lavendar and Peppermint.

I took a deep breath and followed my nose.

I soon found him in a window seat with a book open in his lap.

I chuckled and sat in a nearby chair. I watched as he slept, I probably look like a creepy stalker right now but I don't care.

His chest slowly raised then fell. His hair fell over into his face and it danced with every breath he took. He looked at peace.

He turned in his sleep and the book dropped to the floor before I could catch it.

I cursed in my head.

He shot up, immediately awake.

Well, there goes his peacefulness.

He stared out into space as if he was concentrating on someone. "I know someone's here."

He leaned further towards me. "Darius?"

"Bingo." I said.

"What're you doing here?"

"I'm here to keep you company."

He leaned down and ran his hand along the ground before grasping the book. "I don't need your company."

He ran his finger along the page and mumbled to himself before flipping a couple pages and repeated that a couple times. He soon stopped and ran his fingers over the page, his face concentrated.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm reading and I hate to be disturbed."

He turned back to his book. "How do you read that?" I asked softly.

His face somewhat softened and he sighed. "It's braille. Braille is basically a combination of dots to form letters in the alphabet and those letters make sentences."

"Oh."

He took a small paper out of his book and placed my hand on it. He traced my hand over each letter.

I don't know how long and how many times we had went over them before he stopped.

"Remember them?" He asked.

"I think so."

Xander brought my hand over near his lap and placed it on his book. "Close your eyes."

I did.

"And I trust that you will keep them shut and not be an asshole."

"Hey!" I mumbled

Xander chuckled . "Ok, I'm going to brush your fingers over the letters and try and read them."

My hand started to move and I concentrated on what he taught me.

It was just the beginning, of a life well lived and a love worth dying for.

A large smile broke out on my face. "Cool! I did it, I read it. That's awesome." I said sounding like a overly excited child.

I slowly opened my eyes to see Xander smile.

A smile of my own popped up on my face.
We should tell, mate. I nodded my head, my wolf Axe was right.

"Xander you know...." I was cut off by the sound of my father's voice. 'Son come to my office we have a lot to discuss.'

I mentally rolled my eyes could he have worse timing.

Xander's smile faltered. "Something troubles you what is it?"

"Its nothing. My father needs me for something. Well, see you." I slowly took my hand out of Xander's and turned to leave.

"Darius!"

I glanced over my shoulder back at him.

He sat at the window seat twirling his thumbs. "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I actually enjoyed your company so I was wondering if you'd hang out with me again sometime?"

I was shocked to say the least. The thought that he'd ask me first never occurred to me.

My silence must have scared him as he looked down at his hands. "I understand if you don't want to...."

"No, Xander I want to. I like your company too." I turned and left a smile etched into my face.

---------------

It's been a week since then and I kept thinking about it. We've hung out on two ocassions.

I was so happy. I tried talking to him for about a week since the balcony incident and he pushed me away. I guess he hated been pitied and he always thought he was a burden.

I looked down at my desk to see a folder full of rougue information. I wasn't Alpha yet but I did assist the Alpha's if necessary. Plus I didn't want any of those rogues to harm Xander.

I felt a stabbing pain in my chest and I gripped at my shirt. The pain was so horrible that it took my breath away.

I tried to stand but failed to do so and fell to the floor. When I fell my eyes went black and I saw an image of a evilly smiling person. The last person I expected to smile like that. I heard a faint whisper before the image disappeared and the pain along with it.

I just stood up when the door was banged open and Beta Dean (Alex's Beta) was there raging with anger and breathing hard.

"Dean, what's wrong?" I asked.

"Xander, he's.... He's been taken."
