Bent But Not Broken

Chapter 1

I was 11, spending the summer in my summer mansion and was enjoying my freedom and watching tv. I laid sprawled across the couch and didn't want to get up for anything. Soon after, my aunt came in and said " Stop being so lazy Lexi and come join me!" She turned up the music real loud right then and there in the living room and started dancing. I laughed and got on my two feet and joined her with my horrendous dance moves. We were having so much fun when all of a sudden the music stopped. My aunt looked at me with a blank expression.
" What's wrong?" I asked. She told me to stand still and took a good look at me. " Let me see your back," she said. I agreed and she took a look at my spine. I heard a gasp and wondered what was wrong. She then went upstairs and talked to my parents in private. I wondered if I'd done something wrong or if I've done something that upset her. But then I thought about how she looked at my spine. I was so confused and and wondered what was wrong with me.
My aunt came out of the room about a good 30 minutes later. She took out her phone and started dialing numbers on her phone and told me she needed to speak on it privately. I was furious and wanted to know what was wrong. One second we were having so much fun, and the next she's ignoring me and won't tell me what's going on.
That night, I laid on my bed thinking about the events that happened that day. I thought it wasn't a big deal and wanted to forget about it. There was no point in thinking about something that only made me confused and angry. So I closed my eyes and drifted off into a dream....
