"Sister?" Dawn called from the hallway. "Uhh yeah?" I responded with a fun smile she had given me.
"Do you need pancakes or fresh clothes?" She asked politely, with another smile. "Ummm... no, you seem angelic and.... happy today. Why?"
"I don't know, I just feel like we don't get along as much as I think we should, but I do feel a jolt of energy to do something, anything."
"Taylor, time to get up!" My dad yelled from the hallway.
"Dad... It's 6 in the morning. I sobbed.
"My god.. get up!" He hollered.
After getting dressed and throwing my stuff on, I trotted downstairs to meet my dad and Sister.
"Dad, remind me again why we're going to Target at six in the FREAKING MORNING!?" I said walking down the steps to the car.
"It's not that bad, sis. By the way I wanted to tell you I'm sorry about the arguement a few days back." My sister
Apologized brightly. With, well... you know she had a smile.
What a sunny day, usually terrible. The sun beamed off the office towers and cars downtown. Windy cool breezes swept the street trees near Target. I flipped my hair back when I slipped out of the car. Then of coarse the wind screws it up again.
Just then a massive truck slammed into a small sliver Prius. My jaw dropped. "What the Fuck?!" I yelled in amazement. The two drivers got out all pissed at each other with flaming red eyes, clearly stoned.... Argued for a sec, one slapped another then a cop stunned them with a tazor gun before the fight began, the two were rolling around all hopelessly on the ground. So I'm sitting there and still... "WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?!"
"Come on Taylor, we don't have all day.." My dad called. "But. But. But. DIDN'T YOU SEE WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!"
"Ya a 16 year old missing out on all the fun of Target."
"Wow, just... wow. I just... wow."
"Dad, I don't want to shop for books, I don't want to shop for barbecues, I don't want to shop for lawnmowers!" I complained.
"Suck it up, goldilocks."
"GOLDILOCKS GOT MAULED BY A BEAR!" I said with absolute aggression.
"Not in my book."
"Maybe in the PG version" I said as I waved my hands in question.
The doors slid open and a nice cool breeze flooded my face, so I was squinting my eyes a little. Ruined the cool moment. A small chubby lady, at the entrance greeted in such a jolly way it got awkward to be in such a position. "Welcome to Target, find everything you need?"
Uhhh no we just got here, as you can see... if you can see, so would you kindly screw off. I rolled my eyes and said in my mind. She clearly could see, maybe she was stoned like those guys back at the crash?
"Well that was interesting.." Dawn said as she raised her eyebrows and smiled. Ya I know AGAIN!
We passed by the video games section. "Oh my god, dad we need to get this game!" Dawn pleaded from across the aisle.
"What is it" my dad questioned rubbing his chin. "Uhhhh Playboy isn't a game for children."
"Seriously.... I wasn't pointing at Playboy. That!"
"Fine, you can get that, what ever language it's in. It's like Super Mario Bros right, or. Oh wait it says Littlest Pet Shop. Is that a P? Is that a T?"
"Ya, probably." She concluded.
We started walking to the checkout, and I didn't believe who it was. Nancy Ansiton an awful girl from my school. I know I should've introduced all the people in my life sooner, but oh well...
"Oh hey there Taylor, nice clothes. Where did you get them, fantastic lesbians?" The 2 girls beside her started giggling in a frenzy, she just stood there and smiled. Maybe that's where all the skanks of Pennsylvania hang out. The girls continued to laugh.
"Oh great to see you" I scoffed bad at her sarcastically. "Hey, America's top lost cause is searching for snobby little whore's like yourself, you could become a star... Make sure to check with your dead parents before going." Maybe too harsh.. I thought to myself regrettably. Nancy bursted into tears and ran away, her 2 followers ran after.
"BBBUUUURRRNNN!!!" Dawn hollered. Which then gave me a little smile.
Anyway.
Why wasn't my dad here? "Dad?! DAD?!" I yelled.
"Do you know where dad is?" Dawn asked me.
"No, we'll just walk around."
Dawn started wandering to the appliances, so then I followed. We walked for about 10 minutes through all of Target, just to find my dad in the books section.
"DAD! I said no books!" I yelled.
"Now just hang on there, I think I'll get this one... Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
"You have to read the first ones before you read that one."
"Can we just go already!?" Dawn yelled in excitement. Jumping and shaking her game up and down.
"Ok fine let's go!" I smiled and said.
We made our way to the register, and Dawn softly slid her new game on the counter where the lovely lady scanned the cover. "Uhhh sir, this game isn't that appropriate for children." The lady announced.
"What are you talking about, this is Littlest Pet Shop." My dad said now a bit confused.
"No, this is Littlest Sex Shop... rated for adults."
"Ohhhhh. Put that back Dawn."
Pointing to the video game section.
"Well, mom wouldn't approve." I chuckled.
"Nope." My dad agreed.
We were driving home, the weather outside was turning, dry, humid but not as sunny as before.
We started coming to a stop, a traffic jam ahead for about a mile would keep us in the slow lane for a bit.
"People are getting CRAZY!" Dawn Bursted with Energy. I raced to the left of the car, same did my sister.
Suddenly this tall redheaded old woman sprints past our car... shirtless. Gross, not getting into details about it. Sweaty, as far as I'll go.
"That is soo nasty!" Dawn said as she raised her eyebrows and rubbed her eyes.
About 30 minutes later, uhhh half hour whatever you call it... god, no one's perfect. The cars started rolling again just before I would likely kill someone from frustration.
"We're close to home, guys. Almost there." My dad happily said.
"Great." I cheered.
As we pulled up on the driveway 5 minutes later, the wind started to get sparse and cold, a change from the humidity. Thank god.
