Raira Academy isnt so bad at all. Everything about it is just as I imagined it to be-clean and conducive for learning. The school uniform's skirt is too short. I feel so naked wearing that piece of clothing. But, then again, as I am a 'Mono' I was always misunderstood and people would rather stay away from me. There was one girl who told me I had Schizoid Personality Disorder (which I dont). Well, at least I got Shinra and Shizuo, the latter always going home with me. We reminisced the old days together and soon, we grew closer and closer.
Then, I never thought that it wasn’t as peaceful as I thought it would be. A couple of thugs would barge in the school looking for trouble. Most of their challenges have Shizuo’s name on them. Well, he was pretty well-known for being strong. That may have left them jealous or something. Shizuo’s so strong, he never lost one match, even if he was greatly outnumbered. He would only tear an iron pole from the sidewalk and swing it around like it was nothing. His enemies were sent flying.
Amazing, I thought. How could he put up with this almost everyday? I would always think about it as I watch his fights from my seat next to the classroom window. When we walk home, he would always have a scowl on his face whenever he had a fight. Asking him personally about the matter is out of the question.
For the next couple of weeks, I could notice that Shizuo has someone he really despised. I’ve seen him lash out at a guy wearing black (not the uniform). Although his face isn’t really clear to me, I could see that he always wore an evil-looking grin on his face and other than his short dark hair and somewhat laidback demeanor, I knew nothing about him.
He must be psycho, I thought. Messing with Shizuo like that.
Well, that aside, my life here’s quite as I expected. Having only two friends is more than enough for me. Actually, it’s now three, it was Celty (Shinra’s ‘fiancé’). For three moths, I thought I could live peacefully.
-Until that fateful day…..
It was Saturday and gloomy at that. I felt like taking a stroll around the district. I slipped in my striped blue blouse, denim knee-length shorts and blue sandals, and went out of the apartment. The shopping district was really packed and I had to squeeze myself through the crowd the whole time.
After buying some stuff, I decided to go to that gloomy park in South Ikebukuro. And yes, it was gloomy. The last time I went through there with Shinra and Shizuo, there was no people around. This time, there was a group of people by standing near the park fountain. At first, they seemed pretty harmless and just passed by without looking at them. Then, I got a really bad shiver down my spine. I felt a sharp pair of eyes locked on me as I walked.
Then, I froze when I heard a haggard voice,”Hey there…”
Then, some huge hand landed on my left shoulder. He was right behind me along with some 20 or so messy-looking men. I looked back at him and glared at his slits for eyes. He was wearing a red collar shirt and a pair of dirty pants (haggard to the core). His breath smelled like rotten meat. His companions were no better.
A group of thugs, trying to mess with me.
He smiled crookedly when he said, “Hey there, little miss. We are just getting bored there. Why don’t you join us and let’s have some fun?” I fanned away his stench with my hand. He felt offended. But I can see he tried to suppress it and still falsified his smile, “Oh come on, little missy… Let’s have some fun. Please? Pretty please?”
Some of the others chanted in the background, “Fun! Fun! Fun!” over and over. Also, others had creepy smiles all over their faces. Idiots….
I also, tried to suppress my reactions, and only stared at them blankly. Honestly, beating them to a pulp is a piece of pie. But, I cant do that… Not anymore. Anyway, I have to get out of here.
