AUTHOR’S POINT OF VIEW
“Hey idiot, what’s so funny?” Mikazuki raised a brow as she crouched down beside an empty garbage bin, careful not to let even a strand of her hair be visible from the streets. The one she was questioning, a smiling boy in a differently coloured uniform as she, gave a mischievous smirk, “Hehe, it’s nothing…Nothing really…” and he was grinning so widely that when Mikazuki saw, her hair stood on end.
Her voice was hushed but it was clearly irritated, “Izaya, you’re creeping me out…SERIOUSLY.”
Chaffed by Izaya’s snicker of a reply, Mikazuki’s head wricked to face the adjacent building from her apartment. Still puzzled by the shrouded reason behind the entire incident and still ‘amazed’ by what his interest was unconsciously doing, Izaya can’t help but grin extensively like some mentally-retarded nutcase.
Although it was now faint, they can still hear the noises from the slurred conversations of the thugs. Mikazuki particularly, as Izaya observed, was the more unnerved by the entire situation. And he’s determined to know why.
“Hey, Mika-chan,” he whispered.
“What?”
“It’s just a suggestion, but why don’t we stay here for a while?”
“….seriously? Who the bloody hell would?”
“Well, if you agree, then it would be us.”
“….IDIOT, you’d already know my answer to such audacity of a suggestion.”
“…hmmm, a YES?”
“…You piss me off… NO!” she hissed.
“Haha, I thought so,” Izaya chuckled, rubbing his head. And when he realized that there another shadow just behind them, his grin slightly vanished.
“Usually humans call this fate, but in my case, I call this bad luck,” Izaya grumbled, then tried to keep cool when he saw Mikazuki flash her faint expression of concern to his archenemy, who was standing quietly just behind them in that alley.
“Shizuo, why are you-?” Mikazuki asked in a slightly readable worried tone, and slowly stood up.
Shizuo’s expression tells that he’s trying his very best to suppress his boiling anger against his mutual-archenemy to just focus on the girl in front of him. His voice cracked when he answered, “That’s not important right now…Also…..why are yo-you-?” Mikazuki widened her eyes when Shizuo pointed to her side, and when her onyx eyes followed his point, her face bursted in a flush. Right then, she knew why Izaya was so weird lately. Throwing his hand back at him, her back glued to the brick wall of the building as she gasped, “Y-Yo-YOU didn’t say anything!”
She expected Izaya’s reply: a quiet shrug and his signature smile.
“BASTARD!!!!” Shizuo growled loudly and almost smacked his foot on Izaya’s face, having missed by a hair. The black–haired boy looked terrifically snub as he moved away and stopped just 3 paces from the end of the alley.
“Shizuo,” Mikazuki suddenly composed herself and lightly touched Shizuo right shoulder as he was ready to make another charge. “They might hear you.”
Shizuo calmed down in that instant, “Sorry.” Mikazuki overheard Izaya let out a ‘Tch’. She breathed a sigh of relief, just as her blonde friend starting asking questions.
“What happened? Why are those bastards in front of your apartment?”
Mikazuki then pursed her lips and replied, “I don’t know, but I do know that they’re not good news.”
