AUTHOR'S POINT OF VIEW
A pair of black eyes fixated on a sleeping boy’s face as a soft breeze seeped through the half-open windows on that white-washed room. It was silent. The same pair of eyes flinched when the boy let out a miniscule groan and shuffled his head slightly.
A deep-voiced whisper cut off the onyx eyes’ stare, “My lady, it’s time.”
“…I understand,” then a short pause, “Is my fa-*ahem*- will the Head be arriving?”
“He will. In fact, he insisted.”
“I see,” the black eyes took another glance at the slumbering boy, “Well then, let’s set out at once.”
“…Wait, my lady.”
“Is something the matter?”
“I’m still bothered by the possibility-”
“No, leave him be. He’ll know better than let himself be branded a complete cretin.”
“As you wish….*stares*”
“*sigh*-For the last time, I do not fancy this boy. Anyway, let’s not waste any more time.”
“*chuckles*I was only saying…It’s a shame though.”
(SOMETIME LATER - IZAYA’S POINT OF VIEW)
My eyes fluttered open. Oh, I was dreaming? Ahh, I was only dreaming…but it felt so real – that I was-
That was-
-the very first moment I saw Mika-chan, that boring day almost a year ago. I felt quite jumpy when I realized how vivid that memory was. For a fleeting moment, I felt my face get hot but I brushed away the peculiar feeling. Silently I got up and saw that I wasn’t in my room. I looked around only to see the room was washed white, and the air smells so…sterile.
I’m in a hospital?
My head jerked when I heard a quiet rustling from behind the curtains surrounding the bed I was on.
“Who’s there?” my lips uttered, without my consent. More rustling sounds echoed the room when the white curtain slowly slid back. Thinking it was Mika-chan, my lips curled into a smile.
But it wasn’t. I snapped my smile away and made a sly grin when I saw Shinra.
“Oh, hey,” I said, hiding the disappointment in my voice.
Shinra made a cheerful smile as he said, “It’s good to see you finally awake, Izaya. We thought you hit your head too hard that you wouldn’t wake up.”
My eyes momentarily widened. Something was wrong here.
“What happened?”
“Oh, what happened? Well, let’s see. You fell down the stairs after school yesterday and hit your head.”
…What?
I forced a grin on my face as I questioned further, “What in the world would deliberately make me fall down a staircase?” It was too unbelievable, there’s no way-
“Well, technically, you were sent flying by a chalkboard flung straight at you by Shizuo,” Shinra plainly said and paused. I touched the bandages wrapped snugly around my forehead and said, “Oh.”
That damned blonde Shizuo. But still, that wasn’t how it all happened.
“Where’s Mika-chan?”
