DAVE'S POV:
Two months later:
Here I was, bartending at The Chill. The Chill was actually a small-time Restaurant&Bar, turning into a heated bar at nine. I was bartending for ten dollars per hour, and the workers here told me that bartenders get the most tip, especially when Mr Julian arrived. He tipped about a few hundred dollars when he was really happy.
It was seven, and business was a little slow. People came in to eat, and not to drink. Why I was here you asked?
It was because I was undercover. Julian was actually a drug lord. No one except the CIA knew about him, and the top brass were determined to catch him. Julian was a drug lord, apparently has ties to the Cartel. That's how he gets most of his stuff, which he smuggles into America.
Word was that Julian was meeting with one of the Cartel's suppliers, and that would be valuable information.
Why Julian picked to have the meeting at The Chill because it was also a sleazy joint. The Chill had a private, secret door that excessed into a back room which was used for illegal uses. Should any cop storm this place, they would never find that back room. I had a feeling there were guns there as well. I planted a bug there, under the table. A extremely small bug that was 2 milimeter in diameter. Julian will never find it.
The Agency offered me this mission, and I accepted virtually any missions they gave me these days. Taking down Julian sounded like an adventure to me. At least I could brush up on my spy skills.
Yuri escaped the MI6 Interrogation Centre just a few days after the mission in London. Corran silently helped him escape, and now Yuri was going on another mission. I wished him luck and I told him to survive. He just laughed and said that he would.
Getting back to business, so far I only earned about $50 dollars in tips from about 10 customers. Slow business, as I said. Once Julian gets here, it would get heated.
I was wiping glasses, keeping stock of alcohol and basically watching the front register. One of the waiters, Albert came and leaned against the bar counter.
"Get one vodka lime, on the rocks," he said.
"Coming right up," I said chirpily. My capable hands made short work of the vodka lime. I served it up and Albert took it away. I was filling a pint of Tiger beer when all of a sudden a random guy with his girlfriend sat at the counter and said, "Hey, one Bloody Mary and babe, what do you want?"
I looked at him, and stared at his girlfriend. I could not believe my eyes.
"Isabelle?"
ISABELLE'S POV:
My first reaction was "What the shit?"
Steve looked from Dave to me. "Um Isabelle, do you know this dude?"
Dave nodded. "I'm... urh... Dave. Who are you?"
"Steve," he extended his hand to Dave, "y'know, Isabelle's boyfriend."
Dave looked as if he wanted to crush Steve's hand, which he was quite capable (I knew for a fact) but he was cool. He just shook Steve's hand, (not crushing it) and said, "What are you guys doing here?"
"We're on a date." I just wanted to slap Steve's face now. He was that direct. But I wanted Dave to burn.
"What are you doing here?" I shot back at Dave.
"I, am working," he said, with emphasis on the working, "because of the one hundred thousand dollars I had to pay for the meal we didn't even get to eat! Who the hell asked you to eat the damn fish?"
Fish? "I wasn't eating fish!" I snapped back. "I was eating beef! And you were the one who said 'Oh it's okay I'll pay for it'!"
"When did I say that?" he retorted.
"Woah guys chill out!" Steve said, coming in between Dave's and my argument. He was lucky Dave didn't punch him, because I was sure that's how Dave was feeling right now. Steve gave him a solid frown. "Look, she's my girlfriend, so back off, okay? Y'know what, just get lost, alright? Get, lost."
Dave gave him a eye-lasers glare. "Who are you to tell me to get lost?"
"Look, just face the fact that Isabelle dumped your sorry butt for someone more hotter like me," Steve taunted. "You can't even pay for a hundred thousand dollars? No wonder you are working here. Y'know who I am? I'm the son of a rich man, so I have the right to tell you to get lost."
"Not in this place sonny," Dave said coolly, and I could feel the impatience and intimidation in his voice. "Since I'm a staff of this place, I can tell you to get lost, so get lost."
Steve gave him a look as though Tch I don't care and he said to me, "Darling, let's just go, okay? No sense eating here since this asshole is here."
I couldn't agree more. We walked out of The Chill, and I didn't bother to look back.
