-----------------------------------------------------------

"Are you sure about this?"

"Yes Elias."

"But I've never done anything like this before."

"As you have mentioned every other minute since I asked you to do this two days ago!"

"Fine, fine. I'll do it. Just come here." Elias sighed and Kat grinned at him as she came over to him in the bathroom. Elias stared at the box of hair dye in his hands with mixed feelings, what if he fucked it up?

"You'll be fine. It's really not that hard." Kat smiled as she leaned her head back to look up at him from where she was sat on a chair.

"And you usually do this yourself?"

"Yes."

"Have you always done it yourself?"

"Nope, the first few times it was my dad that did it." Elias looked down at her in surprise and almost dropped the bottle of dye.

"Your dad?"

"Aye, he used to dye my mum's hair all the time so he thought he should show me how to do it properly. Because, according to him, my mum doesn't do it right." Kat giggled and, after several meals with the man, Elias could actually imagine him telling his wife that.

"I'm sure your mother didn't appreciate that too much." Kat laughed.

"Oh no! She didn't talk to him for at least two days after that!" Elias laughed as a mental image of the big brutish man trying to get his small wife to talk to him appeared in his mind's eye.

"Now let's do this. I've already bleached it, so all you have to do is put the colour in!" Kat grinned and Elias felt the corners of his mouth tip up in a soft smile almost involuntarily - she had no idea what she did to him sometimes.

A good hour (and many 'you're getting it on my skin you idiot!'-s) later, Kat stood bent over the bathtub as Elias rinsed the dye out of her hair. She had opted for a silver-grey colour and - as far as Elias could judge - he hadn't done a half-bad job of it.

"You did well, gentleman." Kat grinned as she dragged a hand through her now-dry and newly silver-grey hair. Elias couldn't take his eyes off her. He had almost been afraid that the light colour would drain her because of her pale skin but... it only managed to make her look more ethereal - almost like a fairy, he thought.

"I ain't no fairy, honey, but thank you." She giggled and leaned up to press a soft kiss to his lips, parted in surprise as he realised he'd spoken out loud.

"Well you're my fairy." He recovered quickly and she looked up at him for a second, eyes wide an incredulous width to her eyes.

"You're so cheesy sometimes." She laughed and Elias grinned.

"You got a problem with that." He pulled her closer to him by her hands; she simply rested her hands on his hips and grinned up at him.

"Nope. But it takes some getting used to." Elias smiled and wondered if he would ever stop smiling in her presence - concluded that: no, he probably wouldn't and leaned down to kiss her.

"Lunch is ready!" Mr Moore's bass voice echoed through the house and the two lovebirds pulled apart.

"Shall we?" Elias offered his arm for her to take and she rested her hand in his elbow with a clear, sparkling laugh.

"Lead the way, m'lord." She chuckled as they made their way downstairs.

"I want to dye my hair too!" They suddenly heard a voice exclaim as they walked into the kitchen. Gus was kneeling on a chair doing his homework, staring at Kat's new hair. She laughed and sat down next to him; his hands were immediately on her hair, examining it with sheer wonder in his eyes.

"Gus. We talked about this. You're allowed when you're 16 just like your siblings." Elias couldn't help but grin to himself - only in the Moore household would there be an age restriction on dying one's hair.

"But mum-"

"No buts, mister. That's the rule. And no tattoos before you're 18." Mrs Moore wagged her spatula in his direction threateningly and Gus grumbled something quietly but made no further attempt to oppose his mother.

"Good job on the hair, Elias. It looks great!" She exclaimed shortly after, with a bright grin in Elias' direction. Elias thanked her profusely as he helped to set the table for a light lunch.

"So what else have you two got planned today?" Elias grinned as he sat down next to Kat.

"Sweet nothing, Mrs Moore." Kat laughed as she reached for her drink.

"We're having a reading day." She grinned and Mrs Moore's face was illuminated by a sweet smile.

"A reading day? That sounds delightful!"

"Oh, it will be." Elias looked at Kat with a soft smile. It still hit him sometimes how lucky he was that she had agreed to go out with him and he leaned over to press a sweet kiss to her cheek, just because he could. Kat simply looked up surprised but smiled. Mrs Moore cooed at the two, while Gus suddenly cursed because he got some tomato sauce on his homework. Elias threw an arm over Kat's shoulders as Mrs Moore scolded the young boy and Kat laughed whole-heartedly at her little brother's guilty look.

"Elias..." Kat grumbled with a roll of her eyes. "Elias, stop." He looked up at her and grinned. They had been reading in silence for a good two hours, the only sounds in the room were emitted by their turning pages, soft breathing and the lull of one of Kat's playlists playing in the background. Elias was sprawled over Kat's body and had started to trace one of her tattoos (a new one on her hip which she had got two weeks into their relationship; the logo of her father's garage.) After another stern look, Elias caved (like he always did) and just rested his head on her stomach. She sighed and went back to reading, softly carding her fingers through his hair.

Elias felt like he could burst with happiness in that moment. If someone had told him 2 months ago that he would be in this position, he would've laughed with a wistful expression, not believing but hoping - oh hoping ever so passionately.  And now, now he just buried his face in the lose sweater of his she was wearing, listened to her bright, bubbly laughter as she mock-protested and looked at her through his lashes with a wonder as if looking at a the stars at night twinkling in the dark velvet sky, promising eons and inspiring so much more than love.

"I love you." He whispered, shocked at himself as he saw her eyes widen and then soften.

"And I love you, gentleman." She whispered back and he pushed himself up to press a sweet kiss to her lips. He swore he'd never been so happy.
