With a nervous shake of his entire body Elias opened the door to his home, Kat behind him.
"Welcome to my castle." He joked as he gestured for her to enter first. Kat laughed and walked past him, sending a waft of her sweet, flowery perfume in Elias' direction and he thought he might just die from it.
"So are we staying here or...?" Kat grinned and Elias couldn't help himself as he soaked in the image of her in the hallway of his home.
"Um- uh yea. Yeah we're staying here. I- um I cooked- I cooked dinner." He stuttered and mentally slapped himself for it. But he was rewarded with one of Kat's giggles.
"You can cook?" She sounded and looked as if she didn't believe him.
"According to friends and family, I am a master chef, love." Elias said, gaining his confidence back a little. "This way." He rested his hand against her lower back lightly and guided her into the living room/kitchen area.
"So what did you cook for me?" Kat smiled up at him, when he'd seated her at the table.
"I made Penne Arrabiata- is that okay? You said you were vegetarian but I didn't know how you handle spice and I..."
"That sounds perf." Kat interrupted him. "I love spicy food." She grinned and Elias grinned back. He stood there for a few seconds before he realised he should probably get the food out of the kitchen. Once he'd served the two of them, filled their glasses with water (the only beverage in the house because his parents thought everything else was bad for you) and placed a bowl of salad in the middle of the table for good measure, he went to the stereo and turned on some music on a low volume.
"Is that Hozier?" Kat asked immediately when Cherry Wine started playing softly.
"Yes! How did you know? He's one of my favourite artists." Elias says excitedly as he sits down opposite her.
"Same here! I can't believe we didn't talk about him last night, I'm pretty sure one of his songs played at one point."
"Aye, I think it played when we were low-key stalking Cal and Emma." Elias laughed and Kat joined him.
"We were totally stalking them. But that's what friends are for right?" Elias nodded in agreement and a comfortable silence fell when they started eating. Elias never like talking when he ate and Kat seemed the same. The only sounds she made while eating were sounds of approval of Elias cooking. Sometimes they sounded so sinful that Elias thought he'd go bright red and do something else entirely embarrassing.
"That was amazing, Elias. Your family wasn't lying when they said you were a master chef." Kat grinned when they had finished eating. They'd managed to finish all the pasta and salad and Elias grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck bashfully.
"Um- thanks. Sorry I didn't talk much... I don't like talking during a meal, I'm weird like that..." Elias started but Kat just sent him a soft smile.
"That's alright. I don't tend to talk during meals either." Elias sighed in relief, he thought he'd fucked it up already.
"So what have you got planned now?" She asked after she'd helped him clear the table (which he had strongly objected to, but she ignored him).
"Well we could watch a film or something? Or we could eat ice cream and talk?" Elias hadn't really thought the date through this far.
"Ice cream and talk? Sounds cute. I've not done that in a long time." She grinned and Elias was yet again stumped by the beauty of her smile.
"Ice cream and chit chat, it is!" Elias exclaimed, maybe a little too enthusiastic but Kat just smiled at him and he rushed to the freezer.
