{{ so funny story really~~ turns out I wasn't ready to let my little Elias baby walk this road of love alone ;) haha I hope you enjoy! }}
It was a sunny Sunday morning after the party and in the James household Sunday meant family brunch day. Everyone was allowed to sleep until about 11 am when they were unceremoniously awakened by cold water to the face. Or sometimes, on more merciful Sundays, a mere theft of blankets and pillows.
This Sunday was not merciful. Elias awoke scrambling for breath and the warm (now non-existent) safety of his duvet as he heard his mother's gleeful cackle.
"It never gets old." Elias stared at his mum wide-eyed as she twirled the empty blue bucket around her fingers.
"Brunch in 10 minutes. You better be ready or I'll have another cold shower for you. Actually, take your time, sweetie, dousing you is so much fun." She adds as she smirks at him and skips out of his room. He hears her calling his dad who had probably just subjected Elias' little sister, Joanne to the same cold awakening.
Joanne and Elias had a special bond that had flourished when their mother had started work again. She was a very successful doctor and with their father away as a lawyer all the time, the siblings had to learn to take care of themselves and each other from a young age.
Which was why, even with a rude awakening like cold water to the face, Sunday family brunches were their favourite time of the week. For once their little family was together and happy. Their mother always made sure there was another doctor on call so she didn't have to leave for an emergency and their father had made it clear to all his clients and superiors that they should treat him as dead on Sunday mornings.
But the Sunday morning had Elias even more excited than usual. It was the day of his first date with Kat. Of course it was Joanne that noticed first.
"You're extra fidgety and smiley today, mister. What is it?" Her comment had his parents chime in and soon the three were having an animated, ridiculous discussion as to why Elias was fidgety.
No, he was not on drugs. No, he had not been abducted by aliens and swapped for a different Elias. How did you even come up with that, mum?
Eventually Elias gave up and told them.
"Your remember that girl Kat who I told you about?"
"The Biker girl?" Joanne asked around a mouthful of cereal. Elias nodded.
"Well I'm taking her out tonight. On a date. Our first date." His family was silent for a second before the inevitable chatter arose. Suggestions were thrown here and there, Joanne screamed for Elias to finally buy a leather jacket and dye his hair green (which was met by laughter from both his parents, because Elias James with green hair?) When his dad went to get up and give Elias condoms, Elias sighed deeply and shouted over their voices for them to stop.
"No hair-dying will occur, nor will I take her to the biker club downtown -you do know that's not actually a biker club, right Joanne?- and no condoms will be needed, father, thank you very much. I'm serious about her. I'm not just gonna get her into bed on the first date!"
"That's my boy." His mother cooed and Elias groaned, burying his face in his hands.
"Mum..."
"I'm just saying, we did good and raised a gentleman." Elias peeked through his fingers to see proud, yet mischievous smiles on his parents' faces. They were the best parents one could wish for, even with their constant absences Joanne and Elias knew that it could be much worse.
"It's Joanne's turn to do the dishes so Elias please clear the table. Have fun on your date, son." His father had to go back to work in an hour so brunch was over but the family was happy. On the way out his father leaned down to whisper in Elias' ear:
