I browsed for a good reading material while I was waiting for my new enthusiastic friend to finish her shift. As far as I know, SPorts, Hot Topic, and Writers Weekly are the most well-known magazines here in Japan.
SPorts consists of the usual sports material from reality and virtual reality. I tend to stay away from these types of magazines because I go gaga when I see hot men or women in their undies. Yes, I am bisexual. Hot Topic features the latest rumors about celebrities, not my cup of tea for sure. Of course, the most popular magazine, Writers Weekly, involves the recent boom of writers that came out of Japan.
I picked it up and looked at the front page. The heading says something like this, "Billionaire writer born in the Philippines who resides in Japan wins another prestigious award after his 10th successful story in the past three years". He is the reason Japan and the Philippines had a sudden economic growth that writers all over the world try to copy him. Once a rookie, now sells his stories for millions of dollars. Yes, that is not Japanese Yen or Philippine Peso but American dollars. He contributed more for Japan than anyone else, living or dead. He also helped fixed the corruption that has been going on for years in the Philippines. Japan and Philippines are now known for their influence in the writing industry and ten years far ahead of technology from the other countries just because of the emergence of this mysterious writer.
No one knows his real name, associates or where he lives. He is a complete mystery. Everyone just calls him "The Writer". That is why I am heading over to the Philippines to research more about this mysterious phenomenon, The Writer and the sudden rise of Japan. Well, my trip might be cut short since he is coming today to support the newly built bridge according to the reports. He did send me this invitation, meaning he knows about me and probably knows my abilities to expose his secrets. The mystery is killing me. Thank God for my abilities of fortune telling! No secret can be kept from me. I will dig as deep as I can once I see him. It's not like I'm going to expose him or anything but as an avid mystery fan, I am intrigued.
I took some change from my pouch and gave it to the vendor as I opened the magazine and headed towards the nearest bench.
