we were dancing under falling stars, but he didn't seem to mind
me: are you sure we're allowed up here?
him: of course! would i ever drag you into trouble?
me: uh, yes?
him: pft, name one time I got you in trouble!
me: last tuesday.
him: that doesn't count!
me: and why not?
him: because... you're the one that got us caught!
me: you tried to heave me over your shoulders, any sane person would scream!
him: thats cute, you think you're sane.
me: ...
him: ...
me: this is nice.
him: what is?
me: you, me - dancing. never thought i'd say that.
him: hm, really nice.
me: hey cooper?
him: yeah?
me: why did you move here?
him: i told you already, princess.
me: but there's more to it than that, isn't there?
him: yeah... my friend, he..
me: ...
him: left.
me: ...
him: well, died.
me: oh.
him: he threw himself off a bridge.
me: that's cliche.
him: ...
me: oh my god, i'm so sorr-
him: it's alright. you're the type of person that's blunt and honest. that's one of the things i love about you.
me: ...
him: you don't sugarcoat things. you tell me when i'm being annoying or stupid or an idiot and it gives me a reality check every time and i know that i don't deserve a friend like you and -
me: cooper, shut the fuck up.
him: what?
me: you're annoying and an idiot and really stupid, but why the hell would that mean i dislike you?
him: ...
me: this might sound weird, but... you took me out of this shell that i had wrapped around me. you made me free. you made me feel alive, even if it meant skipping some classes along the way, but i'd skip a hundred more if only you asked and had slightly logical reasons.
him: ...
me: i'm a mean, cranky person and i don't know how you even deal with me half the time, but you don't know how glad i am that you do.
him: nina?
me: yeah?
him: can i kiss you?
me: ...
him: ...
me: yes.
