It's very warm summer morning in July. Summer has just begun. School was out, the pools and beaches were open, and kids like me were being forced by their ignorant parents to go to summer camp.
Everyone always tells me that going to this camp will be a good step for me, but here I was, sitting shotgun in my mothers pick up truck, completely unamused.
My mother notices the scowl on my face and sighed "Terezi, come on, please stop frowning. You're making me feel like the bad guy."
I scoff and glare out the window "I'll stop once you take me back home."
She groans and looks back out the windshield "We drove for an hour to get here, and we're a few minutes away. You are not coming back home until the end of summer."
"I got enough social interaction at school! I just want to be left alone, mom."
"I'm not letting you sulk in your room all summer, you need to make friends sweetheart. You can't just avoid other people for the rest of your life!" My mom sighs.
I groan and look down at my hands. My mom knows what is best for me, and she always means well, and I know she's right, even if I don't want her to be. "Fine, I'll go for one summer, but after this summer you have to let me decide if I want to go again. Deal?"
My mother pulls over quickly and hugs me tightly "Thank you Ter. I love you." She smiles and pulls away, getting back onto the road.
I sigh and decide to make the best of the few minutes we had left until we got there. I pull out one of the pamphlets my mom got before I came. At the top it read in big green letters 'Camp Sburb.' A very unusual name for what seemed like a very normal place. I sigh and look through all the camp activities as my mom turns into a long dirt road. Just as suspected, overhead is a large sign printed in large green letters 'Camp Sburb: Fun and Games All Summer Long.'
"We're here! My mom smiles very excitedly.
I groan and cover my face. I had a very bad feeling it was going to be a long summer.
