After Cleo had left the apartment, I strode over to the couch and collapsed onto it. I pinched the bridge of my nose and let out a long sigh.
"Why was she here?" The aggressive growl ripped from my throat before I had a chance to stop it, the question sounded harsh and critical. I cringed as soon as it had left my mouth. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like that."
"It's okay and I don't know why she was here or why she chose now to show herself after all these years," replied Nara as she settled opposite of me an expression mirroring mine written across her face.
"I never thought that I would see her again."
"I almost wish that I hadn't," grumpled Nara as she placed her chin in the palm of her hand.
"She's not a part of this family anymore. Or at least to me she isn't."
"You know that mother would probably welcome her with open arms if they were to ever meet again. She's soft," Nara shifted again.
"Yes I know. How annoying."
"I agree."
The room fell silent as I relaxed back to stare at the blank, white ceiling.
The anger didn't want to let go of its tight grasp on me, my veins hot and boiling as it seeped into every cell of my body. I needed to leave, needed to get out of this place that reeked of her. I didn't even want to acknowledge her name. After everything that she's done to us, after she tore our family apart, she just waltzes in like nothing ever happened and expects forgiveness. For near immortal creatures, the span of the moment of her betrayal to this one seemed like a short instance. Nara and I also knew how to hold a grudge. A certain and intense hateed for her would always find residence in the dark depths of my soul. I could never forgive her for what she did and I could never forget, the memory of the event was embedded into my mind like it had just happened yesterday.
"I need to leave," I said as I stood abruptly from my resting place.
Nara nodded to me as I took the keys from the small bowl on the end table near the door. It seemed as ahe chose to stay trapped in this place that smelled of Cleo. But there was only one place that I wanted to be.
"You staying here?"
A long and drawn out sigh passed from my sister's lips. "No. I'm going out to eat, I can't stand this place smelling like that bitch."
I sent her a smirk. Usually Nara wasn't aggressive but Cleo had sparked a fire in her that had her blood boiling. We walked down the several flights of stairs together but turned separate ways once we reached the bottom. I went for the parking lot while she strolled out the side doors, wandering into the night.
The silver car rolled to a stop in front of the small house. I parked and got out, smirking as I noticed that the kitchen light was on. I was uninvited but I had shown up many times and wasn't necessarily welcome.
I gripped the handle and pushed the door open. Of course it was unlocked, how reckless. Ajae whipped around quickly from her spot in the kitchen, panic clearly written across her face. Her chocolate eyes landed on my figure shrouded in shadows as I closed the door behind me. Ajae marched to meet me in the entrance to the small home, clearly not pleased at my sudden and unexpected invasion of her home. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and raised an eyebrow at me.
"What are you doing here?"
A staring match ensued as we simply looked at each other, my face expressionless while she sent me a glare.
"I asked you a question, Kai."
Instead of answering her, I continued to stare her down until it appeared like she felt like a specimen under a microscope. With a smirk tiktong up one side of my lips, I advanced quickly, our steps being the only sound in the house. For every step that I took forward, she took one backward. It wasn't long until her back came into contact with a wall. She had no where to go as I trapped her between me and the wall. She stared up at me, so close that our chests brushed when she inhaled. Her face flushed pink as I noticed she was wearing no bra.
"Just to let you know, I'm not a blood bank," she spat.
I let out a short and cold laugh before crashing my lips onto hers. Her whole body went still, her breathing stopping as her heart beat skyrocketed. My lips pressed harder against hers as she slowly recovered from the shock, her arms came up to rest around my neck, one of her hands making its way into my hair, tugging lightly. My hands gripped her hips tightly before tugging her closer, our bodies flush against each other. Her breasts pressed against my chest.
My confidence commands submission. Come to the edge. To play it safe is to not play at all. I captivate of her desires and she hasn't even seen my bad side yet.
It is not enough to conquer; one must know how to seduce. I am intoxicated with the romance of the unusual. But if you want me, you have to play by my rules. It's very simple. Fall in line or continue to live in obscurity.
Ajae seemed to draw the anger from me, dissolving it until there was nothing left. We pulled away from the sensual dance of lips and desire. We still held onto each other but Ajae leaned her head against the wall that she was being pressed lightly into. This was the only time that I had been gentle when I touched her, our past meetings being perilous to where I was either aggressive or she was hurt.
"Why did you do that?" She asked breathlessly, her husky voice feeding my want for her.
"I felt like it."
Her eyes scrutinized me, attempting to pick me apart piece by mutilated piece. But she couldn't see into the darkness of my soul, she didn't have the capability. I looked away. I was almost glad that she would never know of the darkest parts of me because it wasn't something that a vampire would reveal to a human. Our society was one of secrecy.
My gaze shifted back to her, her chocolate eyes captivating as I involuntarily got lost in them. And then my lips were on hers again. I hadn't even registered that I had moved until my hips rolled againat hers, our bodies grinding together. She let out a barely audible moan before she tugged harshly on my hair, separating us once again.
"Tell my why you're here Kai. I want an answer this time," her half lidded eyes stared deeply into mine, trying to pick apart my thoughts.
"Because I wanted to be here, is that such a bad thing?"
The corners of her lips quirked upwards. "I guess not."
