I couldn't tear my gaze from the mirror, my reflection almost haunting. My skin was more pale than usual and I looked sickly, my usually bright eyes taking on an air of dullness. My eyes followed my hand as it slowly reached up to grasp the zipper. I never tore my gaze away as I allowed for the large jacket to slip from my shoulders. Kai's scent lingered on my skin, seeping into each and every cell until it slowly engulfed my own. But it was intoxicating me.
Taking in a shaky breath, I peeled the remnants of my shirt from my body, the torn fabric hanging off of me as a daunting reminder of what had happened. I tore my gaze from the shirt, discarding it into the trash. My eyes then flitted up to view the carnage. They lingered on my marred skin, the bite mark red and angry looking. Purple bruises littered my neck from the vampire's cruel grasp. My thoughts tortured me. This was now a part of me; these ugly marks that would scar over, leaving the memory of the night imprinted into my mind. The scars would be with me forever. Just like the ones that Kai had left behind.
I couldn't look at myself any longer, turning away to peel the rest of my clothes off before stepping into the shower. The water beat down on me and seared my skin, turning it a shade of pink. But I couldn't focus on the heat or the pain, Kai and the encounter with the other two vampires plaguing my mind. But one certain instance replayed over and over, on repeat.
They had called him a prince.
The dark ceiling loomed over me as I stared up at it. Sleep would not come for me tonight. Before, the pain from the bite was only a small throbbing that was easily ignored. But it had began to grow and had morphed itself into a sharp pain that demanded my attention.
I curled into my side, bringing the blankets with me. When I had left the bathroom earlier, I had picked up Kai's fleece jacket from the cold tile floor without a thought. And now I grasped it tightly in my hands, his scent forcing me to focus on something other than the pain emanating from my collarbone.
I had initially thought that I would fall asleep easily; but that was not the case, the entire idea of sleep eluded me.
Growling, I pushed myself from the bed, my shoulder throbbing as I made my way to the kitchen. The darkness shrouded me, covering me like a mask. I filled a glass with water, my thoughts escaping me as I mindlessly drank the crystalline liquid. My thoughts wandered elsewhere.
Suddenly, I was pressed up against the counter. Our lower bodies were smashed together and Kai's hands were braced on either side of my hips, trapping me in.
"Um, Kai?"
"Hm?"
"What are you doing?" I was in shock, almost frozen there as he was just inches from me, his breath fanning across my face.
"I don't know," he whispered, lowering his head. I sighed, lifting my hand to trace his collar bone. Goosebumps rose under my touch as I smoothed the delicate skin under my cool fingers. I followed his collar bone to his shoulder and then ran my hand down his arm, feeling the thick muscle. Right there I just wanted to explore his body, to touch the rigid muscles that covered him, to feel the power beneath them, to feel his touch do the same to me.
There was a hand on mine, taking it away from his arm. My eyes slid up to meet his as my fingers were brought up to his lips and he kissed each of my small fingers in turn. My eyes bore into his hazel orbs, the emotions that were trapped behind them reflected at me like mirrors. Kai released my hand and leaned in towards me. This movement just smashed our lower bodies closer together. My breath hitched in my throat and a dark blush rushed to spread across my cheeks. He reached up to brush a strand of my long chocolate hair aside. His thumb brushed across my cheekbone and I leaned in to the touch.
"Ajae..."
Kai leaned closer if possible, wrapping his strong arms tightly around my small waist. His soft lips brushed across mine, just a tempting, teasing touch. I closed my eyes, inclining my head and parting my lips, begging for more as I pushed our lips together.
The kiss was passion fillled, long and slow, exploring each other in hungry kisses. Our lips moved and fit perfectly together. Our bodies were so close and I had my hands in his hair, twirling the soft strands. Suddenly, Kai's arms around my waist tightened and I was lifted onto the counter, our lips still locked. On instinct, I wrapped my legs around his waist as he tugged me closer, gripping my hips and thighs. Involuntarily, I ground my hips against his and earned a deep moan from him, his hands traveling from my thighs to my butt. I gasped as he squeezed, him taking advantage of me and deepening the kiss.
Now my hands were roaming through his soft hair as the dance between kisses continued and my legs tightened around his waist. Eventually we had to break for air. We just stared into the other's eyes for a little while, breathig heavily. That was the only noise that echoed around the quiet kitchen.
Kai leaned forward and soon we were once again in a lip lock. Soon after, he removed his lips from mine and started trailing light kisses down my neck. First his lips barely skimmed my skin before he would place a slow and wet kiss and then move lower. When he reached the base of my neck, he hit my sensitive spot and my grip on his hair tightened.
"K-Kai," I said in an airy voice. I felt his smirk on my skin, my heart turning to liquid as heat spread through my body.
"Is this enough for you, Ajae?" He asked me huskily.
"I want more," I whispered back.
He smirked once again as I leaned my head back to allow him more room and pressed his lips into the spot. He started to suck on it and eventually he bit down, making me gasp. At that, he was back against my lips, hungrily devouring them, I knew that there would be bruises left. When we finally broke apart I was half in shock, half wanting more. This had only happened in my dreams, but this time it was real. My thoughts continued as he rested his head on my shoulder, his grip on my hips tightening. I closed my eyes, leaning my head on his. My fingers played with his brown hair, smoothing the soft strands.
His grip on my waist tightened, bringing our bodies as close together as they could get, fitting like puzzle pieces.
I was beginning to hyperventilate right in the middle of the kitchen.
I gripped my head after hastily setting the glass on the counter, snapping myself out of my thoughts. What the hell? What is wrong with me? Now I'm thinking of him in ways that I refused to acknowledge. First he's everywhere I look and now he's invading my mind with scenarios that I would never dare wish for.
There was only one reason, one person or thing that I could think of that would cause me this much turmoil. Ever since Kai had shown up, my life began to spiral out of my control.
He did something to me and I'm going to find out what.
