The Great Mare Detective

Chapter 5

-Meanwhile in Ponyville-

Back in Sugarcube Corner, Apple Bloom was telling the story of what happened to her to Bubble Berry who had taken the case while sitting on his chair, and is enjoying a pipe that blows bubbles. "This case is most intriguing with it's multiplicty of elements. It's many twists and turns." Bubble Berry said. He looked at Apple Bloom, and said "Now, you're certain you've told me everything? The slightest detail may be important." Apple Bloom nodded, and said "It's just as Ah said. And then mah father was gone." "What do ya'll make of it?" Dr. AJ asked. Bubble Berry pondered for a minute, and he said "Elusive's up to something. A crime of the most sinister nature no doubt. The question is, what would he want with a toy maker?" Apple Bloom walked to the window, and Spike suddenly appeared as lightning struck, making the little filly scream in terror. Bubble Berry quickly turned around in time to see Spike drop to the floor, and running off. "Quickly, AJ, we've not a moment to loose!" Bubble Berry said as he ran to the door. "Uh, uh, Ah'm right behind you, Bubble Berry." Dr. AJ said following the pony detective. They ran out the door, but Spike was already gone, leaving behind a trail of muddy footprints.

As Bubble Berry bended down to look at the muddy footprints, Dr. AJ said "No sign of the blackguard anywhere!" "Not quite, AJ." Bubble Berry said. "He left some rather unusual footprints. They obviously belong to the same fiend who abducted the filly's father. Elusive's dragon lacky. Dr. AJ looked at the purple hat that Spike had dropped when he ran off, and picked it up as he said "Uh...Bubble Berry?" Bubble Berry suddenly took Spike's hat from Dr. AJ, and said "Ah-ha! Excellent work, doctor!" He laughed, and ran back to his house. Standing in the doorway, Granny Smith looked at Apple Bloom, and said "Now, there's nothing to be afraid of, mah dear." An excited Bubble Berry rushed in just as Granny Smith quickly pulled Apple Bloom out of the way as she glared at the pony detective for his insensitivity. Dr. AJ walked in, looked at Apple Bloom, and said "The scoundrel's qutie gone." Bubble Berry laughed a little, and said "But not for long, Miss Doom!" "Bloom!" Apple Bloom said annoyed at the fact that the pony detective got her name wrong.

"Whatever." Bubble Berry said putting on his brown detective hat. "Now, we simply pursue our dragon friend until he leads us to the filly's father." "Then you'll get mah daddy back?" Apple Bloom asked as she rushed over to Bubble Berry, and hugged him tightly. "Yes." Bubble Berry said feeling annoyed as he pushed Apple Bloom down, and pulled his legs free from the filly's grasp. "And quite soon if I'm not mistaken. Now, hurry along, AJ! We must be off to Winona's." As the pony detective retrieved an Inverness cape from a suit of pony armor, and placed it on himself, Dr. AJ said "Winona's?" "Oh, you must meet her." Bubble Berry said. "She just the chap for this." "You-You want me to come?" Dr. AJ asked. Bubble Berry laughed, and said "I should think a stouthearted army stallion like you would leap at the chance for adventure." Dr. AJ chuckled a little, and said "Well, Ah am rather curious." "Wait for me!" Apple Bloom said. "Ah'm coming too!" "What?" Bubble Berry asked in shock. "Certainly not! This is no business for foals." As the pony detective placed his violin on his chair, Apple Bloom said "Are we going to take a cab carriage?" Bubble Berry hoofpalmed himself, and sighed. He made Apple Bloom look at him as he said "Oh, my dear, I don't think you understand. It will be quite dangerous." He then accidently sat on his violin, breaking it in half. He grunted in anger as he pulled the ruined instrument out. "Why you-! Look at-!" He muttered trying to control his rage. He then took a deep breath, and said "Young mare, you are most definitely not accompanying us. And that is final!" But then Apple Bloom looked at Bubble Berry with sad puppy eyes, much to his dismay, and he instantly gave in, deciding to let the young filly accompany him and Dr. AJ.
