Nothing better than creepy dreams about your death to wake up in a happy mood.

Thomas decided against telling his dream to his friends, because that would just make them unhopeful. (Not that the 'hope' meter was very high)

Ed took the lead after they'd all woken up, and fell into another room.

They all fell on their feet this time, not fooled by the invisible hole. Thomas, Ed and Nick all fell right behind each other, like soldiers in an army. Suddenly, Ed stopped abruptly, and Nick, who was right behind him, bumped into his back.

Thomas looked over Ed's shoulder to what he was looking for with such fright. Anything that scared a though teenager like Ed, Thomas needed to take seriously. When he saw why Ed had stopped, he nearly fainted in terror.

Glaring at them with bloodthirsty eyes were three monsters, who looked like they'd come from hell itself.

The three identical monsters were... well, monstrous.

Thomas was describing them calmly now, because at the time the only thing he was thinking was: YIKES! BAD MONSTERS!

The monsters had three bloodshot eyes, six arms and three legs each. They had weird-looking skin where their hair should be that kind of looked like a Santa hat, which would have been funny if Thomas wasn't in a life-threatening situation. They were so hideous if they'd stared at their own reflection they could've died. All of their skin was green and looked gooey, like they'd been in a lab when a virus had an outbreak.

The two groups stared at each other for about a minute. Thomas wasn't sure whether to attack or not. Thomas, Ed and Nick each had the weapons they'd retrieved from the woman in their hands, but the monsters might be nice. Fortunately, the three monsters decided for him. The monsters charged in unison, making snorting noises as they ran. The three boys imitated them, and yelled as they attacked the monsters.

Thomas brought his knife out and lashed at the first monster. The knife went right through it, but it didn't cut him in half. The monster showed absolutely no sign of pain, and kept trying to crush Thomas by jumping on him, but Thomas dodged every time. Thomas rolled to one side and tried again, but the results were the same. Thomas kept on trying, with no succe ss.

There must be some way to destroy this... thing, Thomas thought. The only problem was trying to figure out how to destroy it.

Suddenly, Thomas noticed something strange with the monster.

In the middle of its back, Thomas spotted a softly glowing orange light. It was pulsing, at the same pace as a heart.

Great! The orange light is the monster's heart! I just have to stab it! Thomas thought.

Thomas tried, but missed as the monsters lunged onto him.

Thomas was thrown onto the invisible floor. The monsters was looming over him, just seconds away from crushing and killing Thomas. Those few seconds were precious. Thomas glanced at how the other fights were progressing.

Not so well.

Ed's sword had been knocked out of his reach. He was crawling on the floor, trying to get to it, while his monster was walking (Running? Sprinting? Thomas had no idea) towards him.

Nick was in an even worse shape. His nose was bleeding. His gun had no bullets left. He was struggling to put as much distance as possible between him and the monster to buy himself some time.

Thomas turned his attention back to his own battle.

He had a plan. It sounded crazy to him, but it was his only chance.

He looked up. He had only one second of life left. But one second was all he needed.

The monster was throwing itself on him. Thomas just needed the right timing... And... NOW!

Thomas grabbed the monsters shoulders and leapt onto his back in a gracious front flip. He was now right behind the monster. The monster was on the floor, not quite processing what had happened. Thomas brought down the knife on the monster's back, right on the orange light. With a tremendous roar, the monsters exploded into green powder.

Thomas didn't have time to celebrate. He rushed to help the others. Ed had been watching him, and just after Thomas defeated his monster, Ed destroyed the second. Together, they worked as a team to finish the last one off.

Although the combat had only lasted an hour, Thomas, Ed and Nick were exhausted. They slept a few hours, which was actually the whole night in their dimension, and the next morning, they were ready to go.

Thomas noticed something strange with the monsters. Last night, they were all three just piles of green dust, but now the dust had shifted, forming what looked like a pair of green legs. As Thomas watched, a bit of dust connected itself to the pair of legs, completing them.

Thomas realized the monsters were slowly reforming. Uh-Oh. He didn't want to be there when they were fully renewed.

They set off. Thomas noted that they weren't in a room. They were in a long corridor that seemed to keep going on and on. Thomas just hoped it didn't last forever.

After two hundred meters or so, they quickened the

pace when they heard a monstrous roar behind

them, meaning the monsters had reformed.

The corridor continued for about a kilometer or so,

and then stopped abruptly, leaving Ed with a broken

nose.

What they saw was probably the most important

discovery so far.

Standing in beauty right in front of them... was an

exit.
