So if your prologue didn't do it, the beginning of your book should introduce the setting, characters, and problem. Most main characters start out as apprentices, so let's say they're an apprentice. Who is their mentor? Who are their friends? Their family? We should know all of this.

The beginning should be slow and steady, but not boring. You should always be building up to your climax, leaving clues throughout your writing. Make sure you mention the weather, a lot of people leave this out. What season is it? Is it raining, snowing, hailing?!

There are normally about 30 chapters in a book. Let's say your beginning is 5-10 chapters long. Make sure not to make it boring. You should have things happen, but nothing too major. Make sure to thoroughly introduce your plot! Is the bad guy acting suspicious? Is the weather changing, leading up to a natural disaster? Are cats starting to cough, signifying a sickness in the camp?

Obviously, I can't choose your plot for you. You have to come up with that idea on your own, so this is going to be short..

Anything else I should add?
