What to do

Mia's POV

"Wait, what?" Brian asked. We stood behind a wall that was part of the bridge, "when I was little, he come over one day, he looked beat up. After that day he kept coming over we became close, then he stopped coming." I explained. "Alrighty then." He said. I looked over and he stared at me, "let's get out of here." I said. He got up and started to walk towards us, we started to run but something made me fall. I looked at my leg that felt like it was being stabbed and I saw a card in it, "your the card thrower." I said. Brian picked me up and sped off with me, he sped up to my room and sat me down on my bed. "MOM!" I yelled. My parents ran into my room and saw the card sticking out of my leg, "I know who it is. I know who the card thrower is." I said. Brian pulled out the card and saw the writing on it, he showed it to me "this isn't over." I read. "Who is it?" My dad asked. "My father." Brian said. "Jonathan's back?" My mom asked. "He's been here the whole time, he's been living under a bridge. We just saw him." I said. He wasn't living far from here, which kind of annoyed me. "My mom." Brian said and sped out, I sped out after him. I stopped in front of his front door step and walked in, I saw Brian standing over his mom, his mom was holding her arm and it was covered in blood. I ran over and a card was stuck in her arm, "Brian can you go grab a hand towel or something to tie around her arm?" I asked. He ran over to a closet around the corner and grabbed a towel, he ran back and handed it to me. "This is going to hurt, forgive me for this." I said tying the towel around her arm under the card. I grabbed her arm under the card and grabbed the card, I quickly took the card out and looked at it. 'Watch your back Anderson' it said. Then at the bottom it said '-j', "Brian you want me to do the thing or no?" I asked. "She gonna have to know sometime, I think this would be the time." He said. "Ready?" I asked. Brian nodded and I put my hand under her wound, it disappeared and appeared on me. I took my hand off of Brian's mom and I healed my arm, "h..how did you do that." She said. "We'll explain later." Brian said. "I'm gonna put a detail on your mom just to be on the safe side." I said. "What about your parents?" Brian asked. "They have powers they can handle themselves." I said. "I'm gonna grab my suit and search the city, if he comes by call me or think or whatever." I said. I sped out and grabbed my suit and put it in my bag, I sped over to the station and did the paper work for the detail. They headed out right away so I just went up to my lab and grabbed a couple things. I changed into my suit and sped out searching the city, I didn't find anything so I went back home. "Mia, are you sure you can handle this?" My mom asked. I nodded, "he attack Brian's mom, I put a detail on her and searched the city. I'm gonna go to the lab and train." I said. I sped off with my suit on and stopped in the cortex, I saw Joey sitting at one of the computers and saw the time. It was only 8:00 and we were the only ones there, "hey Joey." I said. He looked back, "hey Mia." He said. "Hey, can you help me with something?" I asked. "Sure, what do you need help with?" He asked swinging around in his chair. "Brian's dad is the man who put a card through my leg, I was wondering if you could help me catch the cards." I said. "I've been waiting for you to ask me that! I already have the card throwers ready in the training room." He said. "Ok then, let's get started." I said. I walked into the training room and walked into the middle, "so according to your suit the card struck you about as fast as you were running which would be.. 384 miles per hour." Joey said. "So thats how fast they're going to be coming at me?" I asked. "No, first we are gonna start at a 100 miles per hour then work our way up." He said. "First you are going to do it non-blindfolded and then you are going to do it blindfolded." Joey said. "Okay lets do this." I said. He started the card thrower and I put my mask on, a card shot to my head and I dodged it. Another shot to my left and I grabbed it, but it slipped from my fingers. Then four from all sides of the card thrower came at my legs and I flipped, I landed and told Joey to turn off the machine. I got up and grabbed my water bottle, "my gloves, I need them to be rubber, if not then the card will slip from my fingers like it just did." I said. "Already covered." Joey said. He tossed me a pair of gloves and I exchanged them with the other ones I was wearing. We started over and the gloves actually worked, "that was awesome, Mia. Ok now let's try with the blindfold on." Joey said. I put the blindfold on and Joey started the machine, it had worked, what Joey didn't tell me was that he hid card throwers throughout the cortex and one flew past my face. Joey tried to hold back a laugh but earned a punch from me, "not funny Joey." I said.  I put up my suit and sat at one of the computers, I thought of Jonathan. Him and I were so close, why is he going after me? I snapped out of my thoughts when a card shot from the left of me and I caught it with my bare hand, (bad idea) my hand started to bleed and I dropped the card. "C'mon, not cool Joey." I said. "That wasn't me" he said. "Uh, oh, he's here." I said. I healed my hand and got my suit on, "I see you've learned how to catch the card, but did you learn how to catch me?" Jonathan said. He was walking towards us from the hall, "what happened to you, you and I were as thick as thrives. Now your trying to kill me, like seriously, what do you have against me?" I asked. My mask was on and I slowly walked towards him, "oh, Mia-Kate, you took my son away from me. I was so close to bonding with him, then you came. You and him were out everyday, I lost my only son because of you." He said. "Are you serious right now?" Brian asked walking in. "You left when I couldn't even talk. You really think that I was going to spend time with someone who left me and my mom to become some kind of criminal, yeah I looked you up in the police files. You are not my father, and you think that Mia, my girlfriend, would take me away from you." He said. "I wrote to you and your mother, when I left to go to her parents I got robbed out of everything. Then I met you, I got to know you well enough to know your weakness." He said. "And I got to know you enough to know your weakness." I said. He shot a card at me and I caught it, he shot another card to my head. Brian sped over to Joey and sped out with him, I caught the card and started to look at it because it looked familiar, it was the card the I said was my favorite because we decorated cards that day. "You kept it." I said. He threw another card and I caught it without looking up, I dropped the card I caught and put the other one on the desk. I walked over to Jonathan, catching almost every card he threw at me. I ducked at one of the cards and somehow ended up behind him, I grabbed both of his hands and put them behind his back. We got him into the CU (containment unit) and we closed up the door, I sat on on the floor next to the door for awhile, no one watching me, silence filling the room. Then I could faintly hear all the other meta's banging on their doors trying to break it open. Bud came into the room and laid down next to me, "I heard about what happened, about everything. I noticed you seem.. Focused on a certain thing." He said. "What are you talking about?" I asked confused. "We'll talk later, I have some business to discus with myself." He said. Brian walked in after bud walked out, "are you gonna keep the detail on my mom for a little longer or will you take it off?" He asked. "Let's keep it on just for now. Just in case something crazy happens, then we'll be prepared." I said as he helped me up. We walked out meeting up with everyone in the cortex, "hey guys." I said. "Hey." Miya said. "So, what's next?" I asked. Everyone was in the room, Miya, Daniel, Joey, Lucy, Marco, Kara, and both Jessica's. "You know what bothers me." Miya said. Daniel was standing next to her and asked "what?" "This." She said. She kissed him! My jaw dropped to the floor that's how shocked I was, "well now we know what doesn't bother you anymore." I said. We all clapped as they pulled apart, "finally!" I said. As the clapping died down another part of Jessica's hair turned white, "um, is it normal when your hair turns white?" I asked. "Yeah, it means I'm about to something I'll regret." She said. Uh oh I thought to myself. I backed up until I hit a wall then I inhaled deeply, I had a vision, I saw the door that blocks the CU's from the rest of the building blow off, like there was a bomb on the other side of it, then I saw me and Kara on the ground next to each other. Then I saw everybody again, I didn't know what to do, Brian turned around and looked at me. "You ok?" He asked. I sped out without a word leaving my mouth, I stopped to find myself in my lab. I changed out of my suit and walked into the precinct, I saw everybody sitting at their desks and I walked up to Nathan. "Hey, what's up, it's quiet in here." I said. "Nothin much, yeah I'm surprised no ones getting a call. It's been quiet for a while." He said. "Nate, just got a call, you might want to hear this." Jase said (Nathan's partner). Nathan took the phone, "yeah go ahead." He said. "You've tried everything?" He asked. "Ok, I'm on my way." He said then grabbed his jacket. "What happened?" I asked. He whispered into my ear, "grab your suit and head over to the lab, it's been engulfed in flames." Then started to run out. I ran up to my lab and changed then sped over to the lab, I stopped outside to find alarms going off. I raced inside to find the lab in flames, I shot ice in every direction putting the fire out. Everyone was on the floor, and everyone was here when I left so I don't know how it happened, if it was an accident or on purpose. "What happened? Fire department is right outside trying to get in." I said. Everybody slowly got up, "there was a mishap in an experiment and it exploded, it was no ones fault." Joey explained. "Is everyone ok?" I asked. Lucy started coughing a little bit, but everyone was fine. We all felt the ground shake, it shook for like five seconds then stopped, "I'm gonna go check on the CU's. Make sure everything okay." I said. "I'll come with you." Kara said. We walked down to the door blocking the CU's and I walked over to open the door. Then I heard banging on the door, I walked in front of the door and all of the sudden the door blew up and sent Kara and I flying back. Everything was black right when I hit the ground, Kara laid next to me and we were both out cold. I could feel something liquid and warm run across my arm, I couldn't move. I had this dream, where everything was normal, there were no meta- humans, there were no special abilities, there were no super powered people or anything to do with it. I was sitting at my desk in my lab, Nathan walked into my lab and said "Anderson, I need you to finish up that case quickly, then after I need you to come to a scene." "Yeah right away, just a few more things and you'll have this case in your hands." I said. I wrote a couple things in the file in front of me and handed it to him, I grabbed my stuff while Nathan looked through the file. "You coming?" I asked. We took separate cars and I met Nathan there, We were at an inside storage unit, there were three men on the floor. I looked around them and saw one of them was holding a storage key, I put on some gloves and and grabbed the key, I looked at the number on the key and it read '145b' and that happened to be the same number that the storage unit was in front of me. "Hey Nathan can you give me a hand with this?" I asked. He walked over and I unlocked the lock on the door, we lifted and I saw something that I was shocked to see. I saw everybody I know, Brian, Miya, Kara, Joey, Lucy, Marco, Daniel, everybody. They were all sitting in the back of the unit and I walked in, "Mia?" They asked. I helped them up and we ended up in a big group hug, once we pulled away an ambulance came. I helped everybody out and they all got checked out while I kept looking around. Once I finished up, I met up with them at the truck. "Guys, what happened?" I asked. "We were out, you had been at work so we all decided to go the mall. While we were out, some guy came up behind me and put me in a chocker hold. We were in the Apple Store, so he was like doing this hostage for the expensive stuff. I was freaking out in my head and I was petrified, he had me at gun point." Kara explained. "Then a couple other people took the rest of us." Brian said. "I am just so glad all of you guys are okay." I said. "Not quite, they are extraordinarily dehydrated, their blood pressure is very low, their lucky to be alive." A paramedic said. I rode behind them to the hospital and sat with all of them once we were there.
